Jamie Moyer's career was teetering on extinction back in the early 90s. He had a horrible cup of coffee with the Cards and had done little to show he'd be a viable major league pitcher in his previous 5 seasons. He was 28 years old at the time. He'd spend the entire next season out of the majors. He re-surfaced with Baltimore in '93, and 15 years later is still pitching.

And F Jayson Werth.

CC's at 86 pitches through 6 which means Yost will likely leave him in for another two innings.

I definitely think we make the playoffs this year, but the Brewers are far from done.

They're 5.5 up in the wild card so it would be in Yost's best interests to not run CC out there for 115 pitches every start. He wore down last year and they need him healthy. And it's the Pirates. Let him throw one more inning, get around 100-105, and let the pen finish it.

They have no intention or hope of re-signing him, so they are probably hoping he breaks down after the playoffs.

I really wish Hendry could have figured out a way to get him to Chicago.

I certainly don't want him after this season.

We had no one in our system who could match LaPorta.

Is he really that good or it a lot of it just that NL hitters haven't seen him before. Soriano seems to have a good handle on him.

4-0 Milwaukee

Just assume the win for them, the Pirates aren't any help.

All we can do is win our game, and we're not gonna.

It's like the first 2 games of this series didn't happen or something.

If we could possibly reach their bullpen I'd have some hope

he was completely out of gas at the end of last season. it'd be wise to preserve his arm since he'll need to be good for them to make a run in the playoffs, but i don't think there's any hope of him being fresh, given his usage pattern since he arrived in milwaukee.

And considering what happened last year, that's not a good idea. It would be one thing if the Brewers were only up a game or two right now. But they're up 5.5 games in the wild card and have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way. Yost would be dumb to not rest him - which, considering it's Ned Yost, won't happen.

Especially now since it's 7-0. If your pen can't hold the Pirates to 6 or fewer runs in the last two innings, well, then you've probably got bigger problems than worrying if CC is going to wear down or not.

And Sabathia's batting in the eighth. It doesn't mean he's going to pitch the bottom of the inning, as Yost could just be letting him bat like Lou does with Z sometimes. Somehow I doubt it, though.

Please let me know when the Cubs offense decides to show up for the series.

Cubs have scored 13 runs this series, and 7 in the last 3 games.

CC still pitching.

I almost hope he cruises through the order with only 8-10 pitches. That would put him at 105-107 for the game and would make it likely Yost lets him go for the complete game.
