Please get Rich Harden, there is just something about Hudson that makes me say, NO WAY!

BTW, what is the status of Harden's contract? Signed beyond this year or is that the reason why the A's are willing to say goodbye to their ace?

Baseball Tonight just had a segment on the Cubs responding with Harden. Basically saying that "The Cubs have been trying for the last night" and then debated the results of it. Thumbs up all over the place, talked for sure that the wild card is coming out of the central.

They said the "last month", basically rehashed the Sun-Times article.

yeah, I meant to say that. "we've been laboring so hard for him, ever since the last night."

With all of us on the edge of our seats with anticipation, where is our local poster with " inside info" Hoops? He usually pops in by now with some tidbits.

He left the board/was kicked out. Not too sure, but there is a long story behind it.

That really is too bad, Hoops was one of my favorite posters. I had been wondering what happened to him.

No idea what this long story is, but would I be way off if I suspected Meph was involved somehow?

Nope, you would not be off at all.

Was he actually Meph? Did he have 2 screen names? Or am I missing something?

Something along the lines of Meph made fun of Hoops for being wrong on trade info and then the two argued for awhile. Then Meph created a blog ripping Hoops and other NSBBers. Between the two, Hoops announced he was leaving and we haven't seen him since. That's just the cliff notes version and if I got anything wrong, someone else can clarify.

we're really lost on this one without hoops, that's for sure.

Yeah I blame the whole thing on Banedon.

And I'm in the clear...

Here's a news flash: Tim Hudson is good. He's a lock to give 200 IP, a 3.5 ERA, and solid whip, k:bb, and OPS against.

He had one bad season in 2006. But it's clear if you look around 2006 at 2004-2005, and 2007-2008, that 2006 was the exception.

Harden might the 'sexier' name because of potential, but Hudson comes with less risk and clear #2 numbers. Either would be awesome in a Cubs uniform.

i think vitters will have a lot more value later on, unlike any other cubs prospect.

Time will tell however, given what he's doing as an 18 yr old, Vitters just might turn out to be something special. There's been quite a bit of whining about the Cubs not taking Wieters or LaPorta but, I wouldn't be surprised to see Vitters matching or surpassing their numbers when he's 23.

it's sad because meph is a walking computer.

And a hell of a grudge-holder to make an entire site dedicated to ripping nsbb'ers.

That God awful Pierre trade has left the Cubs without the two things they desire, a quality starting pitcher and a left for the pen. Darn that trade to heck.

You've been following the Cubs long enough to realize that Nolasco had no chance to break into the Cubs rotation and even if he got the shot they wouldn't have stuck with him this long.

As recently as June 5, Nolasco had a 5+ERA and was getting lit up. Sure he is having a decent run at it right now, but the Cubs are not known to be overly patient with young pitchers, and Nolasco is benefiting from being on a team that doesn't have many other options other than giving playing time to young players.

I think they would have had him in the pen a lot more than the Fish did but I don't know if I'd count him out as a starter. I suppose there is something to be said about letting a young pitcher get some good game experience. That's where I give them (fish) credit, they go young and see who steps up and once they win or the guy gets too expensive they deal him and get some quality in return. Maybe Hendry should ask the Fish who they want for Nolasco and then turn them down and insert that player onto the 25 man roster!

Hendry should look at the Marlins and others to find out how to have a decent minor league system.

Ha...maybe so. I'd like to see what player(s) in the Cubs organization teams ask about the most.

A large part of the reason the Marlins have a good farm system is because they pick high in the draft and trade superstars away for great talent. Of their top 10 prospects before the Cabrera trade, 6 were drafted in the 1st or supplemental rounds. That doesn't include Maybin who came over in that trade. Also, a large portion of their ML team came over in trades or were high draft picks. I don't want the Cubs to get a great system that way. Though, their player development and scouting has been great since the Marlins became a franchise.
