The very saddest thing of all; of the 3 games I felt best about, based on our scheduled SPs, today was our best chance at winning.

And Dempster came out and pitched his worst game of the year, along with HORRIBLE defensive efforts behind him (mostly coming from LF).

We were bound for a swoon, anyway.

Our best starter is on the DL, our second best starter is in extended spring training, our leftfielder is on the dl... these things happen. Just wait till we get healthy again and hopefully get a No. 2 starter in a trade.

I get what people are saying about Hill but is anyone actually expecting him to pitch for us this year? He's been ruined, IMO.

I wouldnt say ruined. I wouldnt expect much from him this year though.

please tell me we miss lincecum.

They don't miss Lincecum.

At this rate, they might seriously consider calling up Samardzija for bullpen help. Eyre is MIA, Lieber will be burned today. They are going to use at least a couple more arms.

And now the Sox fans will be able to say how last weekend was just an aberration and they really are the best team in Chicago - although we know its false.

yeah they'll still be down 3-1 on the season series, which doesn't do much for that argument.

Yeah but the two Seans against their O in this park will help that argument out.

gallagher has been very good lately, what's the beef with him?

I think there's pretty much no chance he contributes this year. Who knows about the future.

I have more confidence, perhaps wrongly, in Gallagher than both Marquis and Lilly

and much more confidence in Marshall than Marquis

well that'd be a good way to ensure that we lose some more games by lopsided margins.

No, I'm not expecting it at all, just point out that we're in a tough spot at the moment that only time, or some fortunate performances from unexpected places will get us out of

I've had the game on in the background for the most part... how many runs did Eric Patterson wind up costing us today?

yeah you have to have the attitude with hill that anything you get from him this year is a bonus... similar to what they should've been thinking those years with wood and prior.

Marquis is 3-0 with a 2.26 ERA vs. the Giants, and he faces them Tuesday, if that makes you feel any better.

one, if you want to blame that first inning run on him. personally it looked more like heads-up baserunning than sleepy outfielding, so let's split the difference and blame him for 0.5 of a run. so it should be white sox 7.5, cubs 0.

They almost have to callup somebody. Not much to choose from, and he is on the 40-man roster. It's either him, Piggy, or Ascanio. Hart is concussed, right?
