hahahah, a providence guard caught an inadvertent elbow and his buddy ran onto the court during the free throw to complain to the refs. that was the most surreal thing ive seen on a basketball court since the palace brawl

that's only because the ford center or whatever hasn't been blown away in a tornady, yet.

This is the game Pomeroy gave IU the best chance at winning(21%) Not that I agreed with him(I think it's Iowa)

I'm going to have to disagree with Pomeroy. I think Iowa and Northwestern are/were much more likely wins for IU. Northwestern's style may actually hurt them against this IU team (well, at least I'm hoping).

Still think Illinois is the second best Big Ten team at this point.

I told you guys that Michigan isn't going to make the tourney. I know how my college bball fandom goes and its 12 straight years without a rooting interest in the NCAA tourney while cheering for a major big conference team.

Louisville beat Pitt. Wake's the only unbeaten left.

Notre Dame's had a rough go of it, lately. Is it just the competition, or are there some confidence/chemistry issues?

Tennessee is in the same boat. Good competition AND chemistry issues are hurting right now. Well, that, and the fact that every team we face has someone go for a career high.

It's the competition, and we miss Rob Kurz more than I thought we would. I underrated how important he was to the defense (he wasn't fantastic, but he was pretty darn good). And Mike Brey is playing a 6-man rotation, which an ND blog I read doesn't really blame him for because the next two guys (Ty Nash and Carleton Scott) are 4's and 3's respectively and probably wouldn't be giving Harangody or the guards time off anyway.

This won't really cause me to panic until we lose a home game. If we keep winning at home and beat the crappy teams on the road, our stronger than usual non-conference schedule plus the Texas win should still sneak us into the tournament.

25th in the AP, tied for 24 in the coaches and just barely in there. Still nice to see the voters have a memory longer than 2 days. I kinda expected Minnesota to drop out for the same reason, since they lost to NU on Sunday, but they stuck and didn't drop much. There are quite a few teams that off the top of my head look too high, but you look at the teams below them, and they don't really belong any higher either. Teams that look not as good as a historical ranking in that spot would say:

Louisville, Marquette, UCLA, Texas, Xavier, Purdue, Notre Dame, VILLANOVA, St. Mary's, George Mason(yeah they're getting 1 vote, but WHY?)

Underrated(maybe?)

Butler, Minnesota, Florida, A&M, FSU, Missouri, Utah St., BYU, Miami(FL), Michigan

And before somebody comes in here to call me out on the difference between these and Pomeroy. This early in conference season, Pomeroy ratings are skewed by blowouts of terrible teams. Nobody bought into Northwestern as a top 30 team a month ago, these things take time to take real confidence in all of them. It's better to look at them than look at nothing, but it's way too early to put 100% faith behind(my issue with the way Meph used Sagarins around week 4 of football season)
