Kevin Coble has 25 points early in the 2nd half and Northwestern is up 2 on MSU. Sorry for the jinx Jon.

VA Tech up 12 on Wake late 1st half on ESPN2.

i just saw him bank in an 18-footer, and he meant to do it. he's unconscious right now.

EDIT: that was a 3. i've never seen anyone do that before. actually play the bank on a 3 pointer. wow.

Coble is on like he was against DePaul. But Moore is 0-7 from behind the arc. We're not going to win without Moore. Especially since we have 16 or 17 fouls this game.

and especially since it's the second half and you're playing at breslin.

2 minutes to go and Michigan State is sending NU to the line. I can't say I blame this strategy.

And it worked the first two times. Of course.

The last undefeated team and the last winless team both ruined their perfect seasons tonight. Wake lost to VT, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology beat Bryant to snap a 50+ game losing streak. Via the transitive property:

NJIT > Bryant > Yale > Quinnipiac > St. Francis PA > Morgan St. > Maryland > Michigan > Duke

DailyHerald.com[/url]"]1) Michigan State had won 28 straight home games -- but you knew that.

2) Northwestern hadn't beaten a ranked team on the road since Jan. 6, 1999, when Kevin O'Neill's next-to-last team won 58-55 at No. 17 Minnesota.

3) Northwestern hadn't beaten a Top 10 team since March 12, 1994, when Ricky Byrdsong's squad edged No. 8 Michigan 97-93 in overtime.

4) Northwestern hadn't beaten a Top 10 team on its home court since Jan. 3, 1953, when Waldo Fisher's crew won at No. 9 Minnesota 71-65.

5) Northwestern hadn't beaten ranked teams in back-to-back games since...ever!

Ok... it looks safe now. nice win for the Hawkeyes! my co-worker who is an Iowa grad will be able to face all of the Sconnies in the office tomorrow.

That was a really rewarding win. It was fun to see them actually play good basketball again and beat a decent team without being at full strength. That's what can happen when they take care of the ball.

Fuller's Tayshaun Prince-like play and the technical it resulted in was huge. We finally hit some shots late after missing a ton of open 3's. Defense was outstanding. Lickliter said they wanted to foul on that last play but then there was too much separation and not enough time to give the foul before the 3. Gatens or Peterson could have iced it if either had made both free throws at the end.

The David Palmer saga is just so odd.

Big win for Iowa, they may just lose me my friendly wager here about them outperforming their 6-12 record. I still think they come up just short, 5-13, but man I did not see tonight coming.

Wisconsin might have to start worrying about their tourney berth. They're tough to beat at Kohl and have an easy path in the Big Ten, but none of their 5 non IU road games look like gimmes, and they do have Illinois and Purdue at home. They could wind up 10-8 and not have a win over a tourney team. They wouldn't have a bad loss(maybe Iowa), but 20 wins(assuming a BTT win) and no marquee wins is not a tourney berth.

This was a killer loss for them and puts them solidly in that 5-8 tier of which at least one and as many as 3 aren't making the cut.

I didn't even bother checking the score until now. I just assumed MSU would win big. Really helps Purdue.

We need to win today against Minnesota

Pomeroy has upgraded Penn State to a predicted 19-12 (8-10), which is about right barring another upset. A win at Michigan and/or at Iowa would push them to 20 wins, but I still don't think it's enough to make the NCAA tournament (unless they make it to the final game of the BTT)
