I don't know if this was posted yet but . . .

Gus Johnson is announcing the Tennessee/Memphis game today!!!! :yahoo:

A great game just got even better. :D

Except for the fact that I went back to DePaul-Marquette because I couldn't stand watching the slop that was the 1st 5 minutes of the game. It looked like really unorganized pick-up ball from both teams.

Gus doesn't do nearly enough BTN games.

Gus should do all games. In all sports.

I wouldn't limit him to sports.

"This is Gus Johnson, on location at the North American Quilters Association."

I'd watch it.

holy cross just beat american, who's supposed to be the best team in the patriot league. we suffered a narrow loss at navy on wednesday. we should have a pretty good chance in the PL tourney, mostly because the PL really sucks this year.

Yeah Steven tip your hat to Self being smart enough to have all the other North schools be god awful.

Self's done a good job this year. This team is very young, and the talent isn't superstar caliber outside of Collins and Aldrich. Hell, Brady Morningstar is starting.

Starting off 4-0 in the Big 12 with two road victories--even if the teams all are bad--is a pretty good.

And Mario Little is going to be a really good player. I wish he were 100% healthy. He can score.

Agreed Self has done well, but its sad to think they might win a Big 12 title because they have to play the South only once.

That's most Tennessee games. Especially this year. :-))

I still doubt they'll win the title. We'll lose to MU once and at OU. We'll struggle with both UT and Baylor. I think we'll win one of those, but we could lose both. OSU could bite us, too. And we'll probably drop one more head-scratcher--@ Nebraska is my guess. I think we'll end up 12-4 or 11-5. 12-4 gives us a shot, but 11-5 won't cut it.

That maybe, but the fact remains that conference needs to do something to give the South a level playing field.

Did we mention how bad the B12 North is? Mizzou is solid but terribly inconsistent and everybody else is just bad. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if 11-5 tied for the North title. Overall, probably not.

Like what? Reorganize the conference? I doubt that'll happen. They just need Mizzou to get good and stay good, and have one other program get good again.

Like eliminate some precon games. What good is it beating the crap out of UMKC every year? At least that way you could play a more big ten type schedule.

I doubt many coaches from either side would like that. I suppose it doesn't do KU much good to drum crappy competition, but most of the programs--from the North and South-- rely on those easy wins to pad their W-L/tourney resume. I can't see teams like Baylor, Tech, Neb, MU, KSU, etc. being too eager to lose some of those guaranteed wins just to balance the schedule.

Posted
Yeah, there's not really any reason to change the schedule set up. It's how the 12 team conferences are set. You want them to play a 22 game conference schedule? You just wait til Mizzou or whoever can turn it around.

True, but it could help your rpi and strength of schedule too.

I suppose you guys are right.

They've had 3 home games against probably the 3 worst teams in the Big 12, but Mizzou's now 4-1 after dispatching Texas Tech. Two big but winnable games @K-State and v. Baylor. I'll be very, very excited if they can win both.

K State is pretty freaking bad. I think you should win that game easily, though Manhattan can be tricky. Baylor will be a tough game.

Terrible calls in the first half. Apparently somebody doesn't want Bo to lose 4 straight. Good job by the Illini to stick with it and stay calm. Surprised they didn't allow the basket at the end of the half.

I'm still limiting myself on how excited I'll get about this team. That's not to say my interest in them hasn't increased over the past few weeks.
