Jrue Holiday is so damn smooth. He's not in your face athletic like Russell Westbrook, but wow, he can do it all.

He has better skills in my opinion. The kid doesn't even know how good he is yet, once he does watch out.

Agreed, he's much more skillful (and has a better pure outside shot than Russ can dream of). It's just impressive seeing him get it done despite not having the in-your-face athleticism that Westbrook has.

I love combo guards, last season and this year have been heaven for me with Westbrook and Holiday.

Devan Dumes is out of control. He's gonna turn the ball over 4 times a game in big ten play.

Verdell Jones was taken off the court on a stretcher after running headfirst into a Cornell player's shoulder on a pick.

ND crushed Furman without Luke today, thanks to McAlarney making nine more threes to tie his own second-place total for treys in a game. 32 points overall.

Wonder where we will be in the polls tomorrow - we beat a Top 10 team but got handled by UNC. My guess is we won't move much, maybe drop a spot or two.

Agreed on Dumes. He needs to settle down.

The report on Verdell is that his tests at the hospital came out negative. Just a headache for a while I guess. He was knocked out cold on that pick.

Cornell was favored to win that game. IU wins by 15. Randy Whittman's son was on fire for a while there.....finished with 28 points which was almost half of Cornell's points.

Now it's back to the woodshed with games against Wake Forest and Gonzaga forthcoming. :(

Good for Iowa. Now get it done vs. the ACC.

Illinois wins the South Padre tourney by scoring 48 points vs. Tulsa.

MVP of the tourney? MIKE TISDALE.

We should get some serious votes this week, won't crack the top 25, but we'll be up there in the others category.

I know Chester has to play every minute of every game or Bruce will explode, but for the love of god get the ball out of his hand when we have to drive and get the ball to mccamey. Legion gaining elligibility will help us a ton.

Frazier's been about as good as a guy can be without a reliable jump shot this season. His A/TO ratio is something absurd like 7/1. Frazier has not been a problem.

Ping, anything further on the Liggins situation?

Which is why I said just get the ball out of his hands when the shot clock is running down. I know he has played alright, great with the ball. However, Al Fisher went off on him and Uzoh killed him in the second half yesterday. I know he had a thigh bruise, but the truth of the matter is, at that level, you are always going to be a little banged up. If it is more than that he shouldn't be playing.

I said in this thread earlier Dumes is easily my least favorite player on this IU team. The rest of the team may have a plethora of flaws, but they generally always play together and share the ball. Dumes, not so much. I was dubious when he was signed; it turns out he's the exact same player he was in high school. However, Crean needed to add him regardless.

Beating Cornell, especially by 15, is actually a very good win for this incarnation of IU.

Frazier has been getting the ball out of his own hands with the clock running down. Just because a guy isn't a threat to score doesn't men he can't make something happen with the shot clock winding down.

As for Uzoh killing him in the 2nd half? I can't find breakdowns, but the guy was 4-15 for 11 points on the day. How can that possibly be defined as killing?

Got manhandled against West Virginia but led for 35 minutes of the Kansas State game and held off a late rally to win at the buzzer. Big win for a young team. Think we've got a shot against BC but not expecting a win.

Come on Big 10, can we finally do it?

Come on Big 10, can we finally do it?

Probably not.

My out my ass chances in each game.

Monday

OSU/Miami 45%

PU/Duke 54%

Tuesday

Minn/VA 70%

Wisky/VT 60%

IL/Clem 60%

Iowa/BC 15%

Wednesday

NU/FSU 55%

PSU/GT 40%

MSU/UNC 20%

I mentioned it about 20 pages ago, but we pretty much have to be up 5-1 after Tuesday to have a legit shot.

Louisville lost to WKU?!?!?

And Marquette lost to Dayton last night. Not a great weekend for the Big East.

Tennessee loses against a bigger, tougher, better shooting team in Gonzaga in the Old Spice Classic Finale. It was a good loss, in that Tennessee can see how far they have to go in a couple of phases. They had no answer for the 2-3 zone, which is markedly different from last year's team. They also had trouble with Gonzaga's length inside (ironic, as pointed out by the ESPN crew, as UT is long in the backcourt), and did not defend well once the ball was moved quickly. Did not shoot well enough to set up their press, either.

Still, this is a young team, and it was a great game in which to learn a lesson. I expect (hope) that the next meeting will be different.

Good game, Zags.

You list PSU/GT twice. I'm too lazy to look to see which date they play, though.

nice win for OU

We played probably the worst last minute and a half that was awful. Oklahoma deserved the win when we only shot 6 free throws.

Based on early (low sample-size, highly volatile) Pomeroy ratings, here are the matchups:

Monday:

Wisconsin (34) @ Virginia Tech (97) ADV: Big Ten

Tuesday:

Ohio State (4) @ Miami (16) PUSH

Iowa (71) @ Boston College (36) ADV: ACC

Clemson (20) @ Illinois (28) PUSH

Virginia (160) @ Minnesota (57) ADV: Big Ten

Duke (9) @ Purdue (10) PUSH (maybe slight Big Ten)

Wednesday:

Indiana (249) @ Wake Forest (38) ADV: ACC

Penn State (59) @ Georgia Tech (49) ADV: ACC

Michigan (74) @ Maryland (26) ADV: ACC

North Carolina (2) @ Michigan State (27) ADV: ACC

Florida State (100) @ Northwestern (22) ADV: Big Ten

So, 3-4 matches favor the Big Ten, and 5 matches favor the ACC, with 2 "push" matchups. However, the Big Ten never plays well in this matchup, so I'm guessing it'll be 7-4 or 8-3 ACC. Ohio State is only really that high because they've played fantastic against absolutely nobody (SOS 334, only Georgia among major conf teams has played a worse sched), even though their defense has been amazingly efficient.

I guess you are right and I am nitpicking. He did hold him scoreless for the first 30 minutes though. When it mattered Uzoh really turned it on, but I guess that's what good players do. Needless to say I am thrilled we are 6-0.

You can keep your slimy Illini paws back for now as hopefully UK doesn't become Illini's outlet mall. :)

He's still on the team, obviously played vs. WV and should be starting over Porter.

When you're young and immature, used to being the man, everyone is telling that you should be the man, and there's an inferior player starting in frtont of you, you're going to do stupid things.
