When did getting 8 pts and 11 rebs at the half become bad?

pretty impressed with both teams so far

purdue hit everything they took there for about 7 minutes and really did a good job of taking blake out of the game

and ou, i really didnt think we would hang with a good team without blake taking over offensively, but here we are, down 2 and blake only has 14 points. warren and taylor griffin have been big. still wish AJ would never shoot a jumper and i wish we could hit a FT

Purdue has a good team this year. They gotta make their 3s all season long, but if they do that, they'll win the Big 10.

Prudue/OU going to overtime.

goofy officiating at the end sure didn't hurt

should be looking at a top 10 ranking when the polls come out. I don't think we've been that high since the hollis price days.

Illinois quietly beat Kent St. in OT to advance to the finals of the South Padre Island Invitational (the red-headed stepchild of preseason tournaments, with Texas A&M headlining). They'll play the winner of A&M/Tulsa tomorrow.

Not a great win, but a good win against probably the best team in the MAC.

Not a great win by any stretch, but you'll take the win anyway you can get it. It was an extremely ugly game from what I saw of it.

"Okla: 46 FT's Purdue 5 FT's, fouls in called from final 10 on Purdue:11 Okla: 4, FT's in final 10 Purdue: 3 Okla: 24 ... So who won this game OK or refs?"

That's my facebook status right now. The one call when two players are shoulder to shoulder with ball next to the sideline and the ref calls a foul from the far side really raises a question for me. He couldn't see the ball through players. They eventually ruled it a inadvertent whistle but if that was so then why did he point at a purdue player and single it was a foul against him and why did the refs have to argue for 2 minutes. If it was inadvertent the ref would have just said so right away.

Overall I thought the game was a great one and Oklahoma is definently better than I thought they would be. Purdue too six straight threes in the second half and hit five of them at one point. That's how they got up by 9 but thats also when the calls really started to get questionable.

I feel screwed out of a win and know it will hurt because the selection committee won't remember all the calls in March just who won but it was a great game. Hummel being in foul trouble killed Purdue.

I believe one of the Bookout teams started in the top-10 but promptly dropped out.

ahh, that's right. bookout-gray started in the top 10 and then failed miserably the rest of the year

OU definitely got the benefit of the doubt with the FTs, but they also live to pound the ball inside, while purdue just shoots and shoots and shoots.

when 80 percent of your points are from outside the paint, you aren't going to shoot many FTs. When 80 percent of your points are inside the paint, you're going to shoot a lot of free throws.

Oh I agree with you there. As I agreed with Andy when he texted me it was called pretty fairly first half when it 19-2 but late in the game Purdue drove more and wasn't getting any calls. The one that stuck out was when Purdue was up 1 with about a minute to go and Kramer drove into the lane. He likes to do the running one handed shot from the free throw line just like E-Twaun. He got hit on the arm and the ball fell about a foot short of the rim. When someone misses the rim by a foot shooting one of his shots he got fouled somewhere. That was one of the first instances where the announcers started mentioning bad calls.

Oh an if any still doubts Lavin is not a Purdue homer then watch the game and see how he not once goes off on bad calls against Purdue.

The exciting finals matchup of the South Padre Invitational will be Illinois vs....Tulsa. Yep, this tournament blows.

haha, I'm watching the Michigan/Savanah State game, tie score with 10 seconds left, Michigan steals the ball and their freshman PG Novak had a breakaway with 3 seconds left. Instead of laying it in for the game winner with less than a second to go, he tries to make an emphatic dunk (probably trying to get on sportscenter) and misses. The game is going into OT now...

Edit: At the end of OT, Sims hit a shot at the buzzer to win it, so all is well....except Michigan barely beat Savanah State at home.

Sorry andy

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame forward Luke Harangody is out indefinitely with pneumonia.

Harangody, the Big East player of the year last season, became ill after scoring 29 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in No. 8 Notre Dame’s 81-80 victory over No. 6 Texas on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Maui Invitational.

Despite feeling ill, he had 13 points and seven rebounds in a 102-87 loss to top-ranked North Carolina in the championship game on Wednesday.

Harangody, a junior who has never missed a game at Notre Dame, leads the Irish in both scoring with 22.6 points a game and 11.2 rebounds a game.

Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said he is going to be cautious with Harangody. The Irish play Furman on Sunday.

Don't think it will kill them. They can win most of their games for the next month and I would think he will be back in a month or so.

Hawaii isn't paradise after all.

Good for Iowa. Now get it done vs. the ACC.

Illinois wins the South Padre tourney by scoring 48 points vs. Tulsa.

MVP of the tourney? MIKE TISDALE.

We should get some serious votes this week, won't crack the top 25, but we'll be up there in the others category.

Jrue Holiday is so damn smooth. He's not in your face athletic like Russell Westbrook, but wow, he can do it all.

He has better skills in my opinion. The kid doesn't even know how good he is yet, once he does watch out.

I know Chester has to play every minute of every game or Bruce will explode, but for the love of god get the ball out of his hand when we have to drive and get the ball to mccamey. Legion gaining elligibility will help us a ton.

Kentucky turned the ball over 31 times, had a 17 point lead at one point, and shot 68% from the field. they won by two points. wtf?

UK is just making horrible mistakes as far as careless passing. Last night, they turned it over 20+ times, shot under 40% only making 15 field goals, and still won by double digits.

Good to see the big guys contributing with Harrellson getting some valuable minutes off the bench.

Frazier's been about as good as a guy can be without a reliable jump shot this season. His A/TO ratio is something absurd like 7/1. Frazier has not been a problem.

Ping, anything further on the Liggins situation?
