.344/.436/.582/1.018 in High A ball this year (I'd guess that he'll go to AA in the second half of the year)

wonder if a guy like that could've fit into the cubs' plans, or fetched something at the trade deadline.

I know you're looking for an excuse to be bitter, but Wieters can't be traded until August 15th, well past the trade deadline.

Are you trying to tell me that Josh Vitters 4 games played at high A this year aren't acceptable to you? Cmon he put up a .214/.214/.429 line!

Wieters is 22 and in High A, I'd certainly hope he would hit that well. There are currently 10 guys age 22 and younger with an OPS over .900 in High A. To compare, there are 7 players 18 and younger with an OPS over .513 in Low A.

Can we at least wait until we know that Vitters sucks before we start freaking out about him?

I mean, I like Weiters too, but it's high-a ball

right, so because the guy is 22 years old and in high A, one would hope that he'd have the highest OPS of any player in High A except for two guys in the california league who play in bandboxes. got it.

Josh Vitters is way behind his peers. Not college guys. Look at Chris Marrero's career path. Look at Tim Alderson, Nick Noonan, etc. What level are they at?

How about this. What if we drafted Matt Wieters like the experts advised, and what if we drafted Travis Snider instead of Tyler Colvin, like the experts advised? This isn't any kind of crazy prognosticating going on. These were the common sense picks. We could trade those two together for anyone in baseball. Hell, Wieters + Snider = WELCOME TO WRIGLEY LINCECUM.

Oh well the draft is a crapshoot, it's not like anybody here knew to pick those guys. Oh wait.

You know what gets me? It doesn't even matter really if Snider and Wieters make it in the majors: they're worth a fortune in trade value now.

wieters is worth absolutely nothing in trade value since he can't be traded until after the deadline.

How can you use his stat line after admitting he's played 4 games?

Vitters is hurt, guys get hurt, I'm not going to write him off because he got hurt 4 games into his first full season.

Alderson and Noonan both spent all of their age 18 season in Rookie ball.

.362/.459/.624/1.083 at AA - in the eastern league, which i think favors pitchers actually.

.351/.452/.595/1.047 on the season - 18 doubles, 24 HR, 80 RBI, 72 BB/67 K

those are some ridiculous numbers, my friends.

I'll come out and predict that ten years from now, Josh Vitters will be a much better player than Matt Wieters.

What makes you predict this? Position they play?

I don't think Wieters will stick at catcher and I think Vitters will end up becoming above average defensively at 3B.

Hitting will be a wash, imo.

yeah, no one cares.

i'm pretty sure there are some people who do.

I try not to care, but I'm a small, petty man. And bitter.

Still more bitter about the Colvin pick than the Vitters pick.
