Glad there's no Edmonds in today's lineup... looks like they may actually stick by the whole platoon argument for once.

But what happened to worrying about splitting up all of those right handed hitters? Wow.

Not really an issue with a LHP.

Interesting that Lou decided to rest Fukudome today.

How so?

I know Gorzelanny's a lefty, but Fukudome has started against tougher lefties this season, I think.

Today's lineup (per WSCR):

LF Soriano

SS Theriot

1B Lee

3B Ramirez

C Soto

2B Cedeno

RF DeRosa

CF Johnson

As I look at it now, I may have flip-flopped Ronny and DeRo by mistake. We'll find out soon enough though.

Like the lineup. Sean needs a good, quick 1st inning to set the tone. Started off well Sunday until the 2 out walk. First inning will probably be his toughest until he tires (which should be later than the 5th today). Get out of the inning unscored upon and I think the Cubs will score early and Sean will be pitching with the lead as long as he can hold it.

Nice to see Ronny get 2 starts in a row. We really need to find more ways to get him to play. His change of approach this year is insane. My mancrush is growing.

I may be coming around as well. I'm all for Cedeno starting ahead of DeRo at this point.

Same, but I'd want Cedeno starting at shortstop and Theriot sliding over to second.

WSCR just played some comments from Lou making it seem like Gallagher's starting stint might not be too long.

Basically, what he said was that the strength of the bullpen is right handed and he feels like it somehow negates that strength to have four righty starters. (Odd, didn't we hear that part of the problem with keeping Marshall around last year was that there were 3 lefties? I guess 2 is just the right amount. )

Essentially, it seems like he's hoping to get Rich back soon, which is obviously a positive.

Let's hope Sean is so good today that he just winds up taking Marquis's spot when Hill comes back up.

No problem with todays lineup except I wish Lou would realize Ronny is a better defensive SS than Theriot, and slide Theriot over to 2nd when they are both in the lineup.

btw, I don't remember who, but someone predicted, heading into the Pads series that Sori would heat up and hit like 3 hrs.

Props to you, mystery person.

So, with us throwing three lefties at you guys, we won't see edmonds this series?

Probably not, unless he pinch hits at some pt against a righty.

I think you guys are selling DeRosa short wanting him to go to the bench.

Who is selling DeRosa short? Just because there is a better option for more at bats does not mean the alternative is being sold short.

A lot of people envisioned Murton as our starting LF for many years, but when Soriano was signed, they were happy to upgrade. That did not mean that they felt that Murton was automatically a bad player, just that there was a better option.

Besides, ARam, DLee, Sori, and Fuku all needs days off. DeRo is perfect for that role, no?
