Don't have much to say. Go Sean! Nail down a rotation spot.

If the Pirates want to beat the Cubs at any point this year, this is the series they better do it. A rookie in his 2nd start and Jason Marquis in the same series. They have been pitching decently of late. Series will be a lot tougher than last time the Pirates came to Chicago.

Gorzelanny against the Cubs this year: 5 IP, 14 ER. 12 H, 8 BB, 5 SO, 4.00 WHIP.

and he'll find a way to shut 'em down tomorrow, watch.

First game on WGN in a while. Hopefully Gallagher dominates, so he secures a rotation spot. We then need Hill to get it done in Iowa, and we may then be able kick out atleast some of the former Cardinal scum :D .

2006 Cubs - awful team

2007 Cubs - decent team

2008 Cubs - title contender

It's not that surprising

I honestly wonder if Gorzelanny is going to get any sleep tonight with the Cubs looming tomorrow. I mean look at his 2 starts against us this year:

2.1 IP 6 H 7 ER 4 BB

2.2 IP 6 H 7 ER 4 BB

Other than that, he's been pretty damn good

08 vs. Cubs: 0-1 25.20

08 vs. Everyone Else: 3-2 2.73 ERA

the Pirates are something like 3 over .500 against everyone except the Cubs

5 over.

feeling optimistic over there jake? the pirates aren't ready to contend this year IMO, but there have been some promising signs, and i think that neal huntington has the organization headed in a much better direction (granted, it'd be hard to be worse than littlefield)

I actually want the Pirates to be good. Not at the expense of us, but like Wild Card good.

The best part is when you look at his starts against everyone else:

vs. non-Cubs: 29 2/3 IP, 20 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 21 BB. ERA of 2.73, WHIP of 1.38

vs. Cubs: 5 IP, 12 H, 14 ER, 8 BB. ERA of 25.20, WHIP of 4.00.

Yeah, they've been suffering for so long. Hell, even the Rays got it together.
