Does Lou want a Joe Dillon? I dont. If they want to send Pie down for a few weeks to work on some mechanics, thats fine, but they'll need a replacement who can play outfield. Matt Murton would be the only logical replacement.

Kroeger would actually make more sense than Murton since they seem to be looking for a LH hitter. He's also a better OF and could perhaps play CF in an emergency- something Murton could not do.

Torres, 30, was signed as a minor-league free agent in November after hitting .292 for Toledo, Detroit's Triple-A club. A call-up of Torres could give Pie time to cut down on his strikeouts in the minors, while giving Piniella the option to sit Reed Johnson against selected righties.

If he insists on making this idiotic move, lets hope he choses this option against all RH pitchers.

Reed Johnson is probably a better option against RHP than Torres :(

Dallas didn't mean to insult you by saying it definitely wasn't happening. It's just such an absurd idea I can't wrap my head around it actually going down. Much credit (and scorn) to you if it does.

My Lord, it was written by Sullivan of all people, why would any of you believe it?

Well I believe this guys has claimed to have some type of source with the Cubs. So who knows at this point, but nothing with Lou would surprise me right now.

I do admit Lou is breaking my heart with some of his recent moves and this one would top it off. That being said, this would just be plain foolish unless the Cubs are convinced Pie will never be the player we thought he was going to be.

Year 2020....the Cubs reacquire Felix Pie for 2 top pitching prospects. Pie was traded during the 2008 season for Roberts and has averaged 25 home runs and had a 310/370 line until this past season when he had a leg amputated. The Cubs are hoping to have him hit righty pitching while their new prospect Hogg learns to hit major league pitching at the AAA level.

If Pie goes down, either Fuld or a pitcher will come up, I think.

How is Fuld doing at Iowa?

A sterling .192/.288/.269 in 52 ABs

To be fair, he's battled a thumb injury that might be a primary reason his numbers are down.

To be fairer, he's not really that good.

Don't believe everything you read. The Cubs sent Marshall down and activated Eyre today. They haven't "talked up" Torres once to us this season.

Well of course, he's just not .288 OBP at AAA bad when healthy (which is rare).

Wow, I find that kind of surprising. I guess they plan on stretching Marshall back out over a couple starts and like Gallagher as the long man in the pen.

Bruce there are rumors the Pads may dump Edmunds. Do you think the Cubs have an interest so they could move Fukudome up into the 2 spot?

Thank heavens for that. I thought Jim Hendry was going insane for a moment there.

Edmunds is done. I think it would make sense if Boston traded Coco Crisp to San Diego for Edmunds.

San Diego is looking to really shake things up in the coming days. There has been a ton of discussion that the offense has no identity whatsoever. No big names, no go to guy, no nothing. What they could get out of Crisp is someone who can cover a lot of ground in CF and could lead off and be a threat on the bases, which is just another thing they don't have.

Dallas Green quoting Paul Sullivan means it's 300% untrue

Read up buddy, I predicted this long before Sully's article, and it won't be Torres it's Huff-P.

They were very impressed with him during the spring and imo it won't take that long before he's up. I think they are going let him get his timing down and replace Pie which in Lou's (My guess) opinion, may not be soon enough.
