Hill being in the minors is one of the dumbest things in baseball. Marquis still being a starter is completely stupid. At least if Hill and Gallager pitch like this they are gaining experience, what is the point of pitching old dudes who are mediocre when you have better younger players ready to pitch. I hate the management of this team with every fiber of my being right now.

I wonder if he even knows about Lieber's splits. How could you start him against a team whose best 3 hitters are all lefthanded?

 

Especially when you consider the ridiculous juggling he did to have the Brewers not face lefties and all that.

 

I wouldn't want Hill, Lilly, or Marshall to face the Brewers. They hammer left-handed pitching.

 

Throwing Dempster or Lieber against the Reds is almost as bad, though. The Reds can't hit left-handed pitching at all, but they do pretty well against righties.

 

I'm all for using the starters creatively and looking for the best matchups, and it can be done without guys going 9 days without pitching.
