they are only doing two rounds on saturday, thus the later start time

That's so stupid. I like the draft but they drag it out so much that I can barely watch it. Why don't they just do a pick a day after the Superbowl? That way they can drag it out all summer and ESPN can completely ignore baseball and talk patriots, brady and "spygate" (vomit).

They are actually condensing it now, not dragging it out.

Considering 4 hours of pre-draft coverage then 5 rounds on Sunday. Once you get there it is condence on Saturday, but Sunday is going to last longer.

All in all, the draft is condensed. The biggest picks are first round and top of 2nd. They will happen closer together. Most tune out by the third round anyway, and few watch the 2nd day.

I like the shorter times between picks, but wish it started earlier in the day Saturday.

I'm pretty shocked at how far Martin Rucker has fallen. I know he had some injury troubles and therefore wasn't high on the measurables stuff, but the stuff about him being an inadequate blocker seems to be getting blown out of proportion. The fact that no one man can tackle him(and certainly no one defensive back) seems to be getting lost in the shuffle.

Don Banks' latest mock draft has the Bears getting Clady!

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/don_banks/04/25/mock.draft7.page2/index.html

Man I hope that's true.

I think I've moved Clady down behind Albert and Williams on my wish list. I've fallen in love with Williams footwork and ability on an island.

McShay has Clady to the Bears too.

All the negative i hear about Williams is run blocking but as a LT is all about pass blocking to me, and for that i really like him too. Ive seen some highlights of Albert, the dude looks like he gets out of stance reallly fast and can pull like a mofo. I have no problem with the 3 of these guys.

Its a little late for this rant but can we get some highlights of players other than the top 10 guys? Im mean how many times do i need to see Jake Long destory some guy on a goalline play, i get it after 15 times. Maybe the NFL network does a better job of showing a DIVERSITY of highlights but espn can do a better job besides just 5 plays. Also, 2nd and 3rd round players make an impact too!

The Cowboys traded Akin Ayodele and Anthony Fasano to the Dolphins for a the Dolphins fourth round pick.

...that's kind of odd. I don't like the two round gap in the draft for the Dolphins...and I'm not crazy about getting yet another old DT. but a fourth for two potential starters isn't bad value.

Akin is a LB. Fasano is a TE.

Assuming the Cowboys don't get McFadden I really hope the Jets don't get him just to see a bunch of pissed off Jets fans on live TV tomorrow. To make it even better have them draft someone like Clady to really get them riled up  .

How come the NFL network and ESPN never cover people in the second round?

It's always the top 10, top 10, top 10.

Why not try and find some hidden gems in round 2?

I still think the Raiders draft McFadden. I don't think Al Davis can resist.

That's definitely what I hate about the coverage of it. After the first round, they don't care at all. The coverage of the draft itself on the second day is about as bad as it can get. They focus no time at all on the selections.

Can't say I really blame him. It would just be a matter of if the Jets tried to jump in front of the Raiders to ensure that not happening.

I agree. I don't think it would be a bad decision at all. He'd be a good compliment to Jamarcus Russell.
