Exactly my issue with Cedeno....the bat doesn't make up for the defensive lapses.

Compared to who? Theriot doesn't get to that ball and two runs score either way.

I didn't say that Theriot would have gotten to that ball, but if he did, I doubt it ends up in the stands.

But he wouldn't have, so it's moot.

I'm not the one who brought up Theriot. Good stops fantastic, but if you throw it into the stands or into the dugout, it's a waste.

For the last time...Theriot doesn't even get to the ball in the first place, and the runs still score.

For the last time.....Cedeno makes too many terrible defensive plays to start. HE COULD HAVE HELD ONTO THE BALL.

Theriot isn't part of the question.

Exactly. Theriot wouldn't have been part of the equation. It would have gone off the bat until Soriano picked it up.

Theriot doesn't make enough defensive plays to start.

Maybe Ronny can redeem himself a bit here.

He better.

Well he DID crush a double with the bases loaded.

I'd just hope he can hit enough the rest of the game to redeem himself for that error in Lou's eyes.

He tends to make "terrible defensive plays" when he's getting to balls that nobody else has a shot at in the first place.

I don't see how that's a sure thing, and it's a strange way to rationalize a hilariously bad error.

Don't hurt yourself stretching to defend Cedeno at any cost.

Cedeno has no business still playing on a MLB roster.

At this point, I think this is simply trolling. You're trying to rile up the sizable pro-Cedeno crowd here.

heady play there moving the runner over ronny

please. he's up there to drive the run in. is he supposed to move him over so hart can drive him in?

how many of ted's runs were earned?

4

Really? 4 scored on errors....

That's what the box score says.

Yeah....I see that after I posted...I still question it though. The first error would've ended the inning if it'd been a good throw. Therefore everything after should be unearned if I'm thinking correctly.

how so? they were ruled singles anyway, so lets say they just hold onto the ball. Mclouth ended up with a triple so they all would have scored anyways right?

Yea, not like he has accounted for nearly half of the Cubs runs today. Nevermind that. He made a wild throw fielding a ball that most MLB SS's wouldn't even get to. Release him.

Saying Cedeno > Theriot is not saying Cedeno is great, or even average.

One run would have scored, but you assume that the second run was a given. Soriano could have thrown him out...

Are you actually trying to argue that because Theriot has less range that he would have been better to have out there at Short?

Can we just agree that Theriot more than likely wouldn't have gotten to the ball, Cedeno should have put it in his pocket, and it's debatable which one of them is the worse hitter?

It was a great job getting to it. I just wish he was smart enough to hold on to it when he has no shot to get the runner.

You mean aside from the 3 run double earlier?

totally outweighed by his inability to move the runner over for hart to drive in.

That must be how they figured it.

He would have, but his grit level was low.
