Reds are gonna be 2nd in the NL Central this year with 83-86 wins.

No matter how many wins the Reds get this year, it'll be about 3-5 wins less than they would have gotten with a competent manager.

Patterson, a left-handed power-speed hitter, hit .269 last season in 461 at-bats with the Orioles. He had eight home runs with 45 RBI and 37 steals in 46 attempts. His on-base percentage was .304. He really came on after the All-Star break, hitting .313 when he became a full-time starter.

In 2006 Patterson hit .276 with 16 homers and 53 RBI with 45 steals in 54 attempts. His on-base percentage was .314.

Patterson is a former blue-chip prospect who came up with the Cubs and made his major-league debut as a 21-year-old in 2000. In his career, he has 168 steals, 94 homers and 329 RBI and is a .258 hitter.

Hairston, a right-handed hitter, also has Cubs ties, playing with them in 2005 and 2006.

He hit .189 last season with Texas in 159 at-bats. He played all the outfield spots and shortstop, second base and third base. He's a lifetime .253 hitter with a .325 on-base percentage in 2,534 at-bats since 1998 with 112 career steals.

Those numbers are just awful. Awful, Awful, Awful. If he wins the starting CF spot then just wow.

Btw, the CF position has hit leadoff every game this spring.

Dude don't you know anything about baseball. CFs hit leadoff unless there is a skinny, fast, black dude at another position (very rare). Gotta have a guy that can handle the bat (i.e. sac bunt, hit and run, makes productive outs) batting 2nd. Gotta give that fast dude a chance to run. Corner OF and IF are the 3-6 spots, and mostly interchangeable. C is 7th. SS is 8th. These are both defense-first positions, so the offense you get from them is a bonus. Defense wins championships and you gotta be strong up the middle.

When the Reds trade for Freddy Bynum, I will laugh my ass off.

When they trade Dunn to make room for Norris Hopper, I'll laugh even louder.

Welcome to the world of predictable idiocy that Cubs fans lived in for 4 years. The man has a formula, and he will stick to it.

Looks like we'll see the Reds at the bottom of the OBP standings for awhile, Dunn or no Dunn

"Dude they haven't been winning these last few years cuz they have been clogging the bases, gotta have guys that swing the bat dude"

Second baseman bats second, dude.

Nah. Not necessarily. Shortstops are also allowed to bat 2nd.

CF

2B/SS (whomever "handles the bat" better... probably the worse hitter of the two)

1B/3B/LF/RF

1B/3B/LF/RF

1B/3B/LF/RF

1B/3B/LF/RF

C

2B/SS

P

Brandon Phillips and the fact that three of that 1B/3B/LF/RF mix are lefties is really gonna throw him off though.

Wow, that really is Dusty's team

So maybe it wasn't all Hendrys fault. If a GM is stupid enough to listen to Baker I suppose they should get what they deserve.

The only missing piece is Neifi.

Haha, I wonder if some of the Cincy brass are going, "umm.....is he really going to just bring back his failed Cub team?"
