Manning will play. He never misses any action; he'll find a way.

As far as Favre is concerned, if he wanted to be the starting quarterback he never should have retired in the first place. He can't expect the Packers to put their future on hold while catering to his every whim whenever he chooses to change his mind.

Second best scenario is that they trade him. Could they get anything good for him? Who can take on that salary?

It would be interesting to see what the Pack could get for him.

The Redskins trade for Jason Taylor. I guess if none of your players ever develop to be stars, and you trade all of your draft picks away, you can still afford high priced players even after the first 30 million of them. The Dolphins got what they wanted all along. A second this year and a 6th the year after that.

So the redskins give up a 3rd and 4th for Brandon Lloyd a couple years ago and a 2nd and 7th for Jason Taylor this year. Hmmm is Snyder learning?

Nah, more like Bill Parcells is just an idiot.

Seems like the Saints weren't going to budge on their offer, and the Giants just wanted to get rid of JS. Would have been interesting to see a three team deal in the NFL though.

That's a big trade for teh Saints. Brees loves to throw to his TE (she Stratton and Gates). Now they have Bush coming out of the backfield, Shockey coming off the line, and Colston lined up out wide.

I was gonna say he has to be on the field for that, but apparently he's played a lot more than I realize. Seems like he's always fighting some injury, and he's never played 16 games in a season, but he's played 15 in all but 2 seasons, and 14 in one of those.

Yeah he's always injured but tends to be able to play through it. The last three years I think he has been listed as questionable in 2/5's of the games.

Well it's not like they were making a move for the sake of making a move. They lost their starting DE and a backup DE on the same day, so a move had to be made. They will be a better team with Taylor than Daniels because he gives them a good pass rusher that they have been in need of. Plus, a second and sixth next year will hardly cripple them, especially if Taylor sticks around for a couple more and Daniels comes back healthy. Snyder hasn't run the team the team the way I would have, but I can't really find any fault in this move at all.

With the additions of Vilma, Bobby McCray, and Sedrick Ellis on defense, and Shockey on offense, I think the Saints should be projected to win the South. I'm also hoping Pierre Thomas gets more carries.

Not only should they be projected, it'd be disappointing if they didn't. Tampa and Carolina could potentially be good enough to topple them if things fall right, but NO is the class of the division at the moment by a decent margin.

Don't forget about the Falcons, they're going to be tough this year with that stud Matt Ryan at QB. :ninja:

But seriously, there's absolutely no reason why the Saints shouldn't win the South. That division is terrible.

I'm not sure that secondary is improved enough to get them anywhere in the playoffs, though.

Giants trade Shockey to the Saints.

Shockey's a good tight end, but this is a pretty decent trade for the Giants. A team in need of more young players will have a 2nd and 5th rounder to play with next year and have a decent young TE Kevin Boss to replace Shockey.

Good deal for both teams in my opinion.

Assuming both Daniels and Taylor are back next year (and it appears they will be), what will the Skins do with them? I'm not sure who the DE on the other side is.

Despite being a Titan fan, I've always been somewhat partial to the Falcons as well (though, obviously, less so than to the Titans). So don't think I'm hating on them too much. :D

I still think it was a terrible decision to draft Matt Ryan with Dorsey, et al still on the board, though.

Well you never know with a serious knee injury just how quickly and effectively they will heal. Then you couple that with the fact that Taylor will be 35 and is rumored to get involved in acting. I would say it would be a great problem if they are both around in 2009, but I'm not necessarily counting on it.

Good point on the healing process for a knee injury, but Taylor said earlier today that he planned on fulfilling the remainder of his contract (I believe three more years, but I'm not sure). At his age, though, nothing is for sure.

Like you said, it's a very good problem to have.

I totally agree with that

OR we could have signed Kerney last year, drafted Okoye and then we would be free to take Ryan.

I'm just not a big fan of Matt Ryan. I think the Ravens got a similar QB (with perhaps more upside) much later in the first round taking Joe Flacco.

Aye, he's a good back who doesn't get enough respect. They're saying he could team up with Bush if Stecker and Duece are good to go.

I expect Bush to lineup wide some this year with Deuce and maybe another RB in the backfield. They could have Deuce, Pierre/Stecker, Bush, Colston, Shockey, five linemen, and Brees in some formations. They could run reverses with Bush, regular runs, or regular pass play.
