did anyone else see the completely awkward Chad Johnson phone interview on Sports Center last night?

"Is that it?!?"

"Chad - this is your forum, what do you want to add?"

"I don't know."

"Chad, thanks for calling in and sharing with us."

"Is that it?!?"

"Chad, the floor is open, what would you like to say?"

"I don't know"

It was great!

"What are you gonna do if the Bengals don't approve"

"i'm, just gonna go out and embarrass DBs as usual"

"But are you gonna keep quiet"

"huh, yeah"

"So, you're gonna keep quiet if they don't improve the team"

"No. I'm not gonna change."

Excellent.

A bit of sad, yet unsurprising news...Steve McNair has officially retired.

Even though he had some extremely mediocre seasons his final years in Baltimore, McNair was a great QB and was the centerpiece of the Titans franchise in the best years of their existence - as well as taking them to the only Super Bowl in franchise history.

McNair was an extremely tough player (even though some Colt fans will dispute this  ) and did plenty to earn the respect of players and fans.

I will certainly miss McNair and hopefully the right thing will happen and he'll get a spot in the Hall of Fame. I realize he may be right on the border, but I'd definitely like to see him get a spot.

I wish the Cowboys could trade their 1st 1stRound pick, Crayton, and someone else to get Johnson.

Johnson is 30 and would never be able to co-exist with T.O.

I would rather send one of our first rounders to the Lions for Roy Williams, who is only 26 and IMO is better than Chad Johnson anyways.

I actually diagree, think they would be more than capable of co-existing. I would much prefer to bring Roy back to Texas where he belongs :-), the Lions just have no reason to do it from what I see.

I'd take either Johnson or Roy if we could get them for one of the first rounders we have, but I just don't see it happening. Either way, I figure the Cowboys will go after RW when he hits FA next offseason unless he's franchised.

The Vikings acquired Jarred Allen from the Chiefs in exchange for the 17th pick and two 3rd's. Steep price to pay but you're acquiring a top 5 DE, maybe top 3. With our pass defense woes (especially pass rush) I think it had to be done.

15.5 sacks in 14 games last year, 43 in his 4 years in the league. Still in his prime. Add him to the Williams wall with an emerging Ray Edwards/Brian Robison at the other spot and you have an elite defensive line. Madieu Williams at safety is also an upgrade on Dwight Smith.

With the Favre retirement and our offseason, I think the Vikes are the favorite in the North next year. Hopefully they have some language in the contract that protects us in event of another legal problem. By all accounts he's been sober for 18 months.

Overpayment by the Vikes, but not a dreadful deal.

Excellent move by the Chiefs.

Yeah but I guess the way I spin it is we were likely going to go DE with #17 if this deal hadn't gone through. The 3rd round pick from the Broncos was gravy for sliding down a few spots last year in the 4th round and getting the guy we wanted. It was a steal.

Would I trade Phillip Merling and two 3rd's to acquire an elite DE in his prime and lock him up for 6 years? Yep. Our d-line could be really scary next year and we have both Allen and K. Williams in their prime years. Ray Edwards is really coming along and Robison had a very good rookie season. They'll just need to find/groom a replacement for Pat Williams in the next two years.

Yeah, it was overpayment but that doesn't mean they shouldn't have done it. Allen is definitely a terrific talent and this makes the Vikes' defensive stellar and - as you said - they're likely to take an end in the first round anyway.

Overpayment, but justifiably so I guess. :D

I really thought that the Walsh story would simply fade away after all this time, but now we have a new development.

Walsh reaches agreement with NFL to provide any tapes he has and to interview with the NFL on May 13th:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3363455

I still think the NFL should have stripped the Pats of the 7th pick, instead of their own pick, when the punishment was handed down. Stripping the Pats of the Top 10 pick would have hurt more then stripping them of the 30ish pick.

Of course it would have hurt more, but the NFL obviously didn't want them to lose a top 15 pick. That's why if the Pats hadn't made the playoffs, they would have lost their 2nd and 3rd rounders rather than their 1st.

Of course, if Walsh has any kind of evidence, it could get a lot worse for them.

According to ESPN, the Titans and Cowboys have agreed to a trade of Pacman.

Dallas is giving up its fourth round pick in this draft, which is a great deal for Tennessee.

Also, oddly, the Titans have forced Pacman to donate $500,000 to a charity of their choice. :? Odd.

I had hoped we could get him for a fifth, but I can live with a fourth. My guess is with Pacman in the fold, the Cowboys will go WR/RB in the first.

This is good. I would rather have Jones over Talib and still be able to upgrade at WR and RB in the 1st round. Not convinced Jones is done. Would not be suprised to see another trade, though I think the odds are against it.

I don't follow Pacman outside of his run-ins with the law, but is he good? Pro-Bowl caliber?

I think his ability to return kicks is worth the pick the Cowboys gave to get him. I wouldn't say probowl caliber, but if he's on the field he adds some depth to the position. He's definitely better than a lot of the CB in the league.

Also, with this trade, the Cowboys answered one of their needs. I wouldn't be surprised to see them try to move up to get DMac now.

Yea, apparently the teams compromised to a fourth. I know the Titans wanted a third and heard Jones only wanted to give up a fifth, so it appears they met in the middle.

Right this moment I'm not sure Pacman's a Pro Bowler, but he no doubt has the ability.

Part of what is so frustrating about his legal troubles is that he was making huge progress during his final year playing with the Titans. He has the potential to be one of the best in the game (think a step below the level of Champ Bailey), but he needs to stay on the field to do it. I doubt he has the maturation at this point to do it - he certainly wasn't showing it this past year with Tennessee.
