If I hadn't known what they really meant by "Soto is mobile" I would've laughed for weeks at it.

I don't see the Cubs' guys doing worse than Bard/Barrett in SD.

Or Schneider and Castro in NY...etc...

Yea, Yadier's arm makes up for his career 69 OPS+, so much so that he's 3rd and Geo's crazy numbers and even numbers as projected put him at 9th IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE. Classic SportingNews. I'm surprised they didn't end with something about the greatest fans in baseball.

Blanco likely drags down the "duo" in their eyes, but if Soto plays up to his projections, the Cubs could have the 2nd or 3rd best production in the NL from the C position.

Bengie Molina is going to be 33 this year, he's going to keep getting worse. Last year his line was .276/298/433, which is a bit short of spectacular. Eliezer Alfonzo has a career OBP in the bigs of .298. So basically this guy is telling us that a catching tandem that is among the top quarter in the national league may very well have a combined OBP of less than .300 this year? Solid analysis, pal.

How can they possibly have SD that high on the list? Both their catchers are horrible defensively at a position where defense is the primary skill.

nah not likely, TSN prefers defense over offense.

Soto and Blanco are both pretty damn good defensivley, and the fact that Soto should actually produce some offense, its very likely the Cubs will have the 2nd or 3rd best production in the NL from Catcher.

I can't accept that Soto will produce offensively yet. Not a big enough sample size @ MLB level. Here's hoping he does, he would be an amazing NL catcher if he brought his defense to the table and doubled it up with a little O.

You don't think Soto can put up a .700 OPS next season? That would qualify as producing offensively for a catcher.

I was going to make an awesome joke but then I looked at the list and it sapped all of the humor out of me. I mean, they don't even tell what they factored into the rankings. They just list them as if why they are in that order is apparent. (because hey, that molina in san francisco had 81 rbi!!!)

Actually now I'm thinking this isn't a ranking of how good they are at baseball, but more a ranking of some other quality, like, how much the writer of the article would like touch said catching duo in the goods.

I don't see why we aren't ranked hgher. Unless they're going on Soto having little MLB experience.

That's exactly what they're going on. Wait, that would imply that they actually thought about this article before they wrote it...

Exactly, its not that hard to be an average or above average catcher, as most of them are all defense and no offense.
