Jon, you're in luck!

Single-game tickets go on sale on Feb. 22. Stay tuned to cubs.com for more details

Thanks. I blame Garwilly for unnecessarily making me start to worry a bit.

Last year I didn't have to leave for work until 11 AM, so I had a successful hour of ticket buying before that. But this year I won't be in a rush. I figure I may pick up a cheap router and borrow a crappy laptop to see how many windows I can have open. I figure I should be able to easily get over 500, although I need to check to see how much memory a Firefox window with 40 or 50 tabs takes up.

Not that much. I had an easy 600 windows open last year on a middle of the road laptop. 18 firefox windows with 34 tabs apiece or something like that

That's what it seemed like the last year or two, but I've been convinced that I do better with IE windows, so I've usually just loaded up with IE6, which isn't the best memory efficient plan.

So is this the best way to buy tickets the day they go one sale? Just wondering because the last couple of years I have had no luck at all getting in on the good game tickets (IE Cubs/White Sox, Cubs/Cards). Just have as many windows open to the waiting room as my system will allow?

Another question, does the system pick people at random or is there basically a virtual line, meaning who ever lined up first in the virtual waiting room gets first dibs when they go on sale?

Oh and looks like you guys use FireFox instead of IE. Is there a specific reason Firefox besides the typical "its better then IE"?

Thanks guys, all the info will help. I have ended up buying scalpers price tickets for games the last three years and honestly won't be able to do it this year. We have a new baby girl, she will be 8-12 months old when she goes to her first Cubs game. So I definitely need to pay face value :)

Jim

The best thing to do is use multiple computers and multiple people. I have about a half dozen or so friends that I organize. I take the day off of work and use 3 computers myself and coordinate communication and keep track of who got what and what everyone should be trying to get. I've never not been able to get at least one game of every series I've wanted and usually get multiple days (cubs/sox for example). Sometimes I'm the one whos lucky, sometimes its someone else, sometimes its all of us working together. The key is to spread the risk out.

Firefox is better than IE because it uses less memory so you can open up more windows/tabs. I use both, but have had better luck with IE, but I'm guessing thats coincidence.

I can't remember what the plug-in is called, but there are a bunch of tab managing plug-ins for Firefox that let you open tons of tabs while keeping them all visible. Then all you have to do is constantly scroll through all the Firefox windows and look for a tab that got through.

I've never used IE7, though, so I don't know if it works just as well in there.

In terms of popularity, the Saturday White Sox game, the Saturday Cardinals game in August, and Opening Day were probably the top 3 games last year and will be so again this year. If you have hundreds of windows open, you shouldn't get shut out of the Friday or Saturday games or Opening Day, though.

What time do tickets generally go on sale?

They go on sale at 10 AM online and over the phone. I believe the box office at Wrigley starts at 8 AM.

Man do I wish I lived in Chicago and could just head to the stadium.

I try the wristband lottery every year and never have luck. Its about a 1 in 500 chance that your number will be early enough to matter.

I'm taking Ryne to wrigley this year. He's been requesting the trip, so now is as good a year as any. By the way, he'll be 5 this summer.

I'm thinking of 3 different weekends --- The weekend before the AS break (vs the Giants), the Weekend after the AS break (Vs the Marlins) or the first weekend of August (vs the Pirates).

I feel like since it's a weekend, Chicago will be busy as heck. Regardless, I still want to hit a couple museums and the sears tower. Also, weekend game tix will be tough regardless of opponent, right?

I hit it twice in 3 years. So that's probably never happening again.

It's not a stadium, it's a field. Remember Jeff Gordon and Wrigley Stadium? :D

I hit it lucky (within 500) in 2005. Got my share of Red Sox and White Sox tickets. It's too bad I was in college when that happened so I didn't have the capital to get my full share of tickets.

Those weekends it shouldnt be too tough, especially if you are going to go for a Friday or Sunday game. But you should pretty much have you pick of days if you have a bunch of windows open.

Trib[/url]"]With their expenses approaching the highest in the National League, the Cubs latest attempt to raise income could involve a "corporate sponsor" to auction off their newest high-end seating.

..........

So now, a Cubs spokesman admits auctioning off the 70 new bullpen box seats along the third-base line is "something we're considering."

That's about as far as the Cubs are publicly willing to go, although one source said the "auction" could happen in the next couple of weeks, or as soon as a sponsor is found. It is not clear whether the tickets would be sold for the season or on a per-game basis.

The new revenue—from the seats alone—could generate about $1 million, which may not seem like much considering their latest addition, Kosuke Fukudome, will be paid $12 million this season. More money could come from the sponsor.

I'm really not sure how that would work.

Just from the blurb it sounds like auctioning those seats off as a corporate box type thing?

I wouldn't think the demand would be there to auction off all 70 of those seats for the whole year, but you never know. If they decided to auction them off for individual games, that would probably take too long and most likely result in a lot of April and May games being released to the general public due to lack of corporate demand.

anyone remember what the limit of tickets per game is? specifically for the bleachers. i usually only get 3-4 tickets but i need to try to get 20 ( ) bleacher tickets for the July 12 game for my brother's bachelor party. not sure if the orders are tracked by your address, your computer, or what...

my guess is I'll be hitting StubHub for the majority of the seats.

The limit is usually six tickets per game over the first weekend they go on sale. So, if you need 20 bleacher seats, you're going to need some others to help you out.

Can't he do group tickets? Or do they not do bleachers?

July 12th is the Giants, so its not going to be too high of demand (although Saturdays sell out before everything else non Sox/Cards). I would advise getting a bunch of people to try. Also, have multiple credit cards (each with a different name and mailing address) ready incase you get through more than once. Parents, syblings, etc. If you open a bunch of windows and have a few other other people do the same and have a few different credit cards, AND go after that day before you try for any other games, you should be able to get 20 tickets.

I haven't heard anything, but does anyone know when Cards tickets go on sale? I know they have the all inclusive ones on sale now, but what about single game? I remember they went on sale after Cubs tickets last year, I would assume it would be that way again.

They often go on sale the first weekend in March.

I wonder since they had the sale to people on the Season Ticket waiting list if tix on the 2-22-08. I'm guessing that winning the central '07 will be a bigger issue
