  1. I don't know the stat's based on contract, but has there ever been a bigger flop (other then a player getting injured and not being able to play) then Jones? I mean he was very good in ATL but this year with the Dodgers, wow.....just wow. JR
  2. So anyone heard anything further? Is A-Ram back in the lineup today?
  3. Another reason we need another starter. Come on CC. I saw this coming, seemed like a lot of people completely expected him to come back and throw in the majors this year and be a productive pitcher. I just don't see it happening and have not seen it happening for awhile. Anyone got the batting stats CC has? I don't know why but for some reason, I am worried that he would get hurt running the bases like a guy named Wang.
  4. He did it better (for one night) then A-Ram. Not since Santo has there been a 2 HR 6 RBI night by a Cubs 3rd basemen. Correct me if I am wrong. Aramis had a 2 HR 6 RBI game last year, a 2 HR 7 RBI game in 2006. HA that is what I get for listening to ESPN. They said no Cubs 3rd basemen had done it since Santo. Niceee.......

  6. Ticket prices from the Cubs isn't the issue, its the groups that buy them and up the price 200%, and then we pay :glare:
  7. LOL this is still on my DVR. I get chills listening to the call. :beg:
  8. Hilarious, both the video and the fact that a guy that put together this video couldn't take the comments coming from Cub's fans. He can dole it but he can't take it.
  9. +1, this is the only "we will not win with...." thread that needs to stay alive. Marquis just plain cannot pitch. I can't believe his performance has been given so much slack.
  10. And him chasing Dero to the dugout when Mark complained about a pitch is another instance of these umps going above themselves. I am so sick of umpires thinking that they need to that and make a point that they won't be yelled at. You never used to see umpires follow a player half way to the dug out after he made a comment about some calls and turned and walked away. Again....are they not supposed to diffuse the situation instead of follow someone and instigate more? Pathetic if you ask me, call the game and go home.
  11. Ok, i will give you that.....but the Cubs have held on to both thinking they were the next great thing in CF and neither are amounting to it. If we continue to give Pie "time" he will be the 5-6 year player CP was and still be doing the same thing he was when first brought up. Swinging too big for himself.
  12. Dare to compare.....if it hasn't already been said. Didn't we once have a fast, above average CF'er that couldn't hit because he swung for the fences everytime he was at the plate?? Can we say CP? Sorry to say, the once promising Pie has lost his luster. We need a better all around center fielder and the Cubs, as usual, stuck to their guns and held on to Pie until he has no trade value. I would love to eat my words, seeing as I followed him a lot while down at Iowa, but I just don't see him turning it around. I know he is only 23, but he has been around quite awhile and he won't make it in the show until he shortens up the swing and concentrates on getting on base, trying to steal his way around, and letting the big boppers hit him in. Heck, we all know where he would go if the Cubs did let him go. He would join the current rehash of the 04 Cubs to the east, with Baker, Bako, Pattersen, and Mercker. Then there is former teammate Hairston that the Red just called up too. JR
  13. Is it sad that my heart almost stopped when I read this initially?
  14. I have been wondering about that too. I liked Barrett alot but when he took that shot he really hasn't been the same since.
  15. Man do I wish I lived in Chicago and could just head to the stadium. JR It's not a stadium, it's a field. Remember Jeff Gordon and Wrigley Stadium? :D LOL you are right, I do remember. Now lets just not let anyone else notice what I said.
  16. They go on sale at 10 AM online and over the phone. I believe the box office at Wrigley starts at 8 AM. And the lottery # for what # is the first wristband is at 6 AM. Wristbands are usually given out Mon-Weds of the week tickets go on sale IIRC. Man do I wish I lived in Chicago and could just head to the stadium. JR
  17. Well it looks like I will be getting firefox before then so I can give this year a little better shot.
  18. Link Thanks. I blame Garwilly for unnecessarily making me start to worry a bit. Last year I didn't have to leave for work until 11 AM, so I had a successful hour of ticket buying before that. But this year I won't be in a rush. I figure I may pick up a cheap router and borrow a crappy laptop to see how many windows I can have open. I figure I should be able to easily get over 500, although I need to check to see how much memory a Firefox window with 40 or 50 tabs takes up. Not that much. I had an easy 600 windows open last year on a middle of the road laptop. 18 firefox windows with 34 tabs apiece or something like that That's what it seemed like the last year or two, but I've been convinced that I do better with IE windows, so I've usually just loaded up with IE6, which isn't the best memory efficient plan. So is this the best way to buy tickets the day they go one sale? Just wondering because the last couple of years I have had no luck at all getting in on the good game tickets (IE Cubs/White Sox, Cubs/Cards). Just have as many windows open to the waiting room as my system will allow? Another question, does the system pick people at random or is there basically a virtual line, meaning who ever lined up first in the virtual waiting room gets first dibs when they go on sale? Oh and looks like you guys use FireFox instead of IE. Is there a specific reason Firefox besides the typical "its better then IE"? Thanks guys, all the info will help. I have ended up buying scalpers price tickets for games the last three years and honestly won't be able to do it this year. We have a new baby girl, she will be 8-12 months old when she goes to her first Cubs game. So I definitely need to pay face value :) Jim
  19. Meany-bopper   =D> Wow that was something I didn't need to be reminded of. Anyone got that cover page with the Cubs "potential" starting rotation that year? Remember the pictures of Maddux, Clement, Zambrano, Wood, and Prior? Oh what could have been but never was. Since then....no preseason rankings mean anything to me.
  20. Although I think doping shouldn't be allowed.....the league knew about it, did nothing about it, and now is trying to put shame on the players. They didn't test for it so they were allowing it. No matter if it was illegal or not, the league never did anything. They were all two worried about the almighty dollar that they let the league image take it in the shorts. Not voting a player into the hall of fame for doing something the league allowed is wrong. Just like the "asterisk" comments. Again, I can't look at players that have been named, or in other situations been found guilty, the same way. But they shouldn't be punished by a league that did nothing to prevent it. In fact I think the league's in action is the #1 reason we are where we are. Vote em in if they are worthy. Oh and for those sports writers that simply will not vote a first ballot nominee in.......you need your vote revoked! JR
  21. The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees......
  22. so I did a little searching but I haven't seen anything regarding any kind of deadline to sell the Cubs. Is there a dead line at all? I am just really anxious to see who buys the team. I am really hoping for Cuban. I really am surprised at the Fukudome deal, I thought they would be a little more dormant this year with the sale pending. But on that note....the Fukudome deal really goes along the lines of decisions that Cuban has made for the Mavs. He goes outside the box to create the best team possible. He doesn't always look in the same places for players that all the other teams in the league would traditionally look, even though more MLB teams are looking abroad. Maybe he had some influence on the pursuit of Fukudome? :-k Either way....I want the sale to go through sooner then later and really hope Cuban is the guy. He would shake up a sport like no one else could. Although the traditionalists wouldn't like it.....the traditionalists are the ones that turned a blind eye to the whole steroid thing with the hope that it would just pass. [-( Jim
  23. LOL - Ricketts has a ton of money. Honestly I don't care as long as there intent is winning.
