It's just a shame the Trojans weren't up for the Stanford game and got upset. We would have had a great game with the two best teams from the two best football conferences playing for the National championship.

Instead we get two blowouts. LSU over Ohio State and the Trojans over Illinois.

I'm going to predict an OSU win over LSU.

I'm also going to predict that shortly afterwards we'll see a long overly complicated rationalization using mathematical models of why LSU was the better team and "should have" won by Meph.

Were you one of the many on here last year predicting an Ohio State win over Florida?

Oh, I get it. Ohio State lost to Florida last year, so they can't beat LSU this year. Gotcha.

Ohio State isn't as good as they were last year and LSU is better this year than Florida was last year so yeah is make sense to predict another SEC blowout of a Big Ten team.

1st off like Meph will probably tell you one game has many different variables. Florida routing OSU last year was probably a fluke.

2nd Its still has no value in predicting this years game

3rd What LSU team have you been watching? It certainly isnt one that is better than Florida last year. I keep hearing that LSU could easily be undefeated. They just as easily could have 4 losses and being playing in the Cotton Bowl.

1. Yes and no. Florida and OSU were close last season. The blowout part of it was probably also due to the long layoff for OSU

2. No. It certainly does mean something.

3. Yes this years LSU team is better than last years Florida. 06 UF wasn't great. They had a middle of the road offense and a great defense.

I think the thing nobody is getting here, unfair as it may be, Kansas would've been selected for a BCS spot regardless of whether they would've beaten Missouri or not.

They were selected because they are the more attractive team. And they would've only had one loss either way.

I have more of a problem with Illinois getting in and not Mizzou. I don't like these bowl tie ins and it screws up the rest of the system which is bad enough as it is.

But Illinois getting in had nothing to do with Missouri. Once Kansas was in, Missouri couldn't get in. Same deal with Florida. Really, the only option better than Illinois that the Rose had was Arizona State, and they weren't about to schedule a conference rematch.

Bukie is right. Illinois is not the reason Missouri didnt get in. Also I dont know where else I posted this but, The Rose Bowl is very loyal to the Big Ten and Pac Ten because those conferences were loyal to the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl would have been pushed out of the BCS except those 2 conferences said they wouldnt get involved unless the Rose Bowl was involved.

It's the other way around. The Rose Bowl wanted all the marbles and when they found out the other bowls had a deal, they conceded but still kept the Big 10 vs Pac 10 thing. The BCS is bad enough but these bowl tie ins have made it way worse.

Troy Smith facing pressure for the first time in all of 2006 and looking like crap against it was no surprise to anyone who watched what other marquee college QBs did against pressure in 2006, so no, I don't think that last year's game was a fluke.

The difference in the game this year for Ohio State is they will stick to the run. They ran the ball pretty well last year vs Florida but got enamored with the spread passing game. That won't happen this year. Now LSU has a pretty good Dline and Dtackles but i look for Tressel to try and grind this one out with Chris Wells carrying the load.

Last years game had nothing to do with the layoff. The game plan flat out sucked, it was lost on the sidelines.

....was also looking much better for OSU until Ginn left with an injury early. Don't forget about that.

You are right that the Rose Bowl wanted all the marbles. When they didnt get them and were going to be forced out, The Big 10 and Pac 10 wouldnt get into the BCS unless the Rose Bowl was included. I agree that the Rose Bowl put themselves into the bad spot. They were bailed out by the Big Ten and the Pac 10 though. They very easily could be the Cotton Bowl right now.

Like you're fond of saying -- and I agree completely -- it's one game. Last year's OSU-UF was one game, this year's OSU-LSU is one game. It's also not like OSU is playing UF again, and, even if they were, both teams are very different. Anything can happen, even the lesser team winning. Last year's game is mostly irrelevant; though I'd argue it will actually be beneficial to OSU.

Finally, most people predicted OSU to win last year; they thought it was a mismatch for the Buckeyes. Didn't work out. So the fact that most though OSU would win last year is actually an argument for OSU this year.

It was 34-14 at halftime. They would never have caught the Gators running the football. They stopped running out of necessity.

Well no that doesnt help either

JT's 4th down on own 30 was moronic and totally out of character.

Howard Schellenberger(FAU's coach)'s is the best. KU 2, Hawaii 3, Mizzou 4, Boise 10, BC 11, USC 12, Texas 14, VA 15, UConn 16, Wisky 17, Florida 21

Haha wow, i missed that that's awesome.

Illinois was ranked 9th by three Big 10 coaches (including its own), Bob Stoops voted Oklahoma 1 and Ohio State 6, Boise State got a top 10 vote...ludicrous.

But this is what the BCS is based upon, I so love an educated voter. I'm replying to all the coaches votes, not just this one.

Where did you guys get this info?

That link that dougdescenzo posted was to the final coach's ballot.

In my poll I have Oklahoma #1 (as does Sagarin) and Ohio State #5. I don't think Stoops's rankings are ludicrous at all.

Dantonio didn't show any love for his former conference. WVU at 11, Cincy at 25, and no USF. The amount of coaches(and Big XII coaches too, thanks Mack Brown and Mike Leach) that put us behind kU is blowing my mind.

Beamer was the same way. Funny how that works...you have the people who it effects the most decide who goes.

I like Tubberville's too. He doesn't rank USF but has Central Florida 25, I suppose beating his team 19th and CFlorida 64-12 isn't quite good enough.

What has two thumbs and just booked his flight/hotel to Pasadena?

That guy!

I love that Illinois is basically in a no-lose situation. Everyone expects them to get blown out, so they can only impress.

Or get blown out as expected - who would that impress?

Beamer was actually very fair though. The only way for his team to make the natl champ game was to be above LSU in the poll and he put LSU #1 in his poll.

Since they killed his team he had to.
