I have never seen that website right about a rumor yet. They make OH look like the WSJ.

That'll happen when you simply make them up in an attempt to get hits.

I heard a rumor on ESPN 1000 a few minutes ago that this thread will reach at least 200 pages, and that even a few more Geovany Soto statements could be thrown in by spring training depending on the Orioles' roster situation and if Geovany is spelled correctly.

OH has a link to a Cubs board that claims to know that Sherrill will be flipped to the Cubs in the Roberts deal. It also goes on to say that it assures two pitchers going back to Baltimore. If true, my guess would be Gallagher and Marquis (and probably a position player) I don't know anything about the blog so take it for what it's worth. Link

Once completed the deal will likely be announced this afternoon or tomorrow morning. League Officials now expect the deal that would send Roberts to the Cubs to be finalized and completed by the weekend. They now expect that George Sherrill to be part of the deal. The O's have no use for a 31 year old reliever in there pen and want to get younger. Sherrill will ensure that the O's will get at least two pitchers in the deal from the Cubs.

Remember to take everything you hear about this deal with a huge grain of salt. Thanks to David Gerstman for the heads up.

I like this the only thing that scares me is that means Dumpster will be the 5th starter!!!! so I dont know sherrill would make our pen even better but is worth making dempster a starter?

I'm not that worried about Dempster starting , From all indications Lou says he'll get a look this spring training . He's no lock for the rotation. If the Cubs end dealing Marquis and Gallegher for Roberts , Dempster will still have his work cut out for him earning that fifth spot. Marshall and Hart could easily push Dempster from that role with a solid spring. I just don't see them sending us Sherill because his salary is so low, my bet is we end up with Payton/Millar/Bradford as part of the dump for them taking Marquis off are hands.

If that is the case, I'd prefer Jamie Walker as the dump off instead of Mr. Cowboy Shut Up Kevin Millah, Mr. Supersta Jay Payton, or Bradford. This would allow the Cubs to move Scott Eyre (who's a FA at the end of the yr) .

Nothing's wrong with Colvin. He's a solid, not great, prospect. He has the potential to be an above average producer in CF.

It was a very poor draft pick.

Off topic, but hell this whole thread is.

I just order Showtime when the new season starts and cancel it when it ends. I couldn't wait until DVD.

I'm confused? The post was obviously a huge farce. I don't think he deceived anyone with his link.

It wasn't a rickroll, and you should lighten up.

Listen, I'm not saying the mods can't be criticized. But please be more polite in how you do it when you disagree with something.

Buster Olney has the latest on the Cubs' talks to acquire second baseman Brian Roberts. According to Olney:

"Sources involved in Baltimore's trade talks with Chicago expressed confidence that at some point, the Orioles and Cubs will finish the proposed Brian Roberts deal."

Olney says Sean Gallagher would be the centerpiece of the deal. On February 3rd, ESPN's Jayson Stark said Gallagher or Sean Marshall would be included,

Normally I'd agree, but that was pretty obviously going to be a joke link. I mean, at least to my knowledge, ESPN 1000 doesn't cover this site.

I'm sure Banedon knew it was a joke but he was just letting the poster know the guidelines. The comment back is the main issue, just treat Posters/Mods with respect and things will flow nicely.
