I think Marshall is capable of being a middle of the rotation guy, not just back end trash. Maybe I'm alone on that.

About 2 years ago I really thought Marshall was going to be good myself.....since then he has lost 4-6 mph on his fastball and that is not encouraging....he was barely throwing 82 at the end of last season

If you remember and this was posted many moons ago is that supposedly Bedard had to be dealt first and then Roberts......... ;)

If Sean is traded, I hope you'll still stick around here.

Does anyone else who lurks OH get a kick out of that girl who posts crying smileys and stuff like "OMG PLEASE BE WRONG NO!!!!" every time something is reported about Roberts? Cracks me up. I think her name is cindylovesbrady or something like that.

Once you account for baserunning and defense, there's not a huge gap between Roberts and Teixeira.

One of many examples... http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1200588&postcount=182

Looks like the Todd Walker situation we had here.

If you go by WARP (which I know has some flaws and some people here don't like it), it's actually not THAT crazy...

Last 3 years Tex has averaged a 6.7 WARP.

Roberts, over the same span, has averaged a 6.9 WARP.

Neither missed a significant amount of playing time in that span (had to mention, since WARP is a counting stat, not a rate)...

I'm not at all trying to suggest that Roberts > Tex or is really even close to him, but the statement isn't all that crazy by some metrics.

I saw this posted on the OH forum and it made me laugh

AM = MacPhail

PA = Angelos

AM: Peter, I think that we're going to send Bedard to Seattle and Roberts to the Cubs.

PA: The Cubs don't play in Seattle.

AM: No Peter, it's a 3 team deal. One player goes to the Mariners, and the other goes to the Cubs.

PA: That's only 2 teams.

AM: We're the third team.

PA: So what do we get?

AM: Jones, Sherrill, 3 prospects from Seattle and Gallagher, Murton, Colvin from the Cubs.

PA: If the Cubs have Roberts, maybe they could include him in the deal...I really like that fellow.

AM: But we're sending him to the Cubs...why would they send him back?

PA: If they aren't willing to part with Roberts, neither am I! This deal is off!

Considering age and contract status, I'll take Teixeira over Roberts every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I don't think there's any debate....

Lets just offer Marshall, Gallagher and Cedeno to the Braves for Teix.

That confirms that I do NOT want to visit...

Someone else over at OH said they preferred Marshall over Gallagher because he could be a veteran innings eater. LOL, since when? :scratch:

Shhhhhhhhhhhhh, let them go on thinking that.

I'm not that excited about Roberts being a Cub as I am to see what Hendrys other big move is.

If Roberts is Hendry's idea of a big move I'm not sure I'd be willing to devote 160+ pages to the other big move.

I think you underestimate Roberts value. I was on the fence with this deal but I am now convinced that, if he lives up to his projected production, he could be the most valuable member of the team.

I think a lot of people are doing that. Especially when you compound it with the added value of DeRosa over Fontenot (or whoever would wind up as the primary backup)...

It's totally understandable as to why that is, too. There are bigger needs on the team.
