(Lurker since 2001 from the Cubs.com exodus who lost his ID at some point)

Anybody we know, or were you strictly a lurker? I was a regular at that joint in '01.

Pretty much the only people I remember are you, NCCubFan...and that's about it as most seem to have changed their names. I never posted much, but when I did I was DiceMan. Played in a few yahoo fantasy leagues with people. Trying to make my comeback now.

I don't remember you being in any of the fantasy leagues I was in, but I do remember you being in a Sporting News league I was in before I started participating in Yahoo. Some of the people from that league were Tehmpus (he organized it), Cubman15, BigbadB, and teencubfan.

I believe Hosak was in that one, too.

THAT was the one. I totally forgot about that. It ran on a point system instead of roto. I really liked that set-up. If I remember it was free that year, and afterwards had a fee. Maybe I did take second afterall.

I really think we are going to camp with this team. BRob might get traded, but as for a second trade, I just don't see it happening over the course of a week. Not to many 'huge' trades are made with a week to go before camp.

This offseason is too unique to compare it to others in the past. Look at the O's still working on a Bedard trade this late... I think that's holding up other deals for the Cubs (obviously) and other teams (possibly).

Erik Bedard may finally be on his way to Seattle for a physical, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

John Hickey, who said yesterday that he thought the deal would be announced today, is now saying Friday at the earliest. The Orioles are expected to acquire Adam Jones, George Sherrill, Chris Tillman, Kam Mickolio and Tony Butler from the Mariners for Bedard.

I feel like I've aged 5 years during the span of this thread. I can't believe the Bedard deal isn't even complete yet.

Trade gets announced Friday February 8th. Then they are left with 5 days to trade Roberts before camp. Not to say that they wouldn't do the trade after camp starts, but it would be increasingly less likely.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Erik Bedard stayed at home in Ontario on Tuesday, suggesting that the trade to Seattle "remains a day or two away from completion."

Bedard will need to take and pass a physical in Seattle at some point before the trade can become official. Meanwhile, the Seattle Times speculates that a press conference announcing the trade could come as soon as Wednesday.

Anybody else like me picturing a rookie reporter from the Sun sitting in his car outside Bedards house all day eating donuts waiting to see if he leaves the house...

Is this a new update from today?

I usually try not to get caught up in random unsubstantiated message board rumors, but at this point, why the hell not?

This from bigbird

and an FWIW to everyone....

I was told this evening that the Cubs have a 4 player deal on the table of Gallagher, Murton, Veal and Cedeno for Roberts. Also a signing of Josh Fogg could happen pretty quick.

Although I take no stock in this, just for argument's sake, that is way too [expletive] much to give up for a player we don't need.

That'd be a horrific trade.

Agreed. If that deal is on the table, the Cubs better be getting a 2nd solid addition in the deal, like Jamie Walker. Otherwise, I wouldn't feel comfortable for the Cubs trading 4 players, for Brian Roberts who is a solid player, with All Star ability. If Brian Roberts was a true elite player, fine, but he's not. So a second player has to be added for the deal to be worth it. In theory.

Is he saying we would sign Fogg or the Orioles?

I would say the Cubs, because I know that the Rockies try to pawned Fogg off on the Cubs, before the Cubs acquired Steve Trachsel. And it was said that Hendry was atleast considering, before taking the Trachsel. So, I would assume Hendry would target Fogg to replace Gallagher.
