Why? That's three players with ceilings as average players at their position for one of the best 2B in the game signed at a reasonable amount for the next 2 years. Two of those players have no future with the organization. What's not to like?

I think people who overvalue EPatt don't like that trade. I don't think EPatt's ceiling is anything above mediocre middle infielder. I'd do that deal.

what hendry forgets is that baseball logic is flawed, backwards logic, and people who are too close to the game are brainwashed by it.

 

people who have been involved in it in some way, shape, or form for years and years often get wrapped up in it--not knowing that baseball is a liar, a cheap, mesmerizing whore that will steal your wallet and stab you in the throat when you're not looking. no one knows anything about baseball because everyone thinks they know everything about baseball.

 

hendry would do a great service to himself and the team by forgetting evrything that he thinks he knows about baseball because it's invariably wrong. if baseball logic said that up was down and down was up, hendry would believe it, this how baseball works. just pull a costanza and do the opposite of instinct.

Just spoke to my guy and the Bedard sweepstakes have been narrowed down to the Dodgers and the Mariners. It seems that Bedard being here opening day is very, very unlikely as I was told. Also said we are in very "deep conversations" with the Cubs about Roberts and feels like that deal will eventually get done as well. Still talking to the Angels about Tejada and we have realized we need to drop our demands some if we want to move him. That's all I have right now. Once again when I have more I will be happy to pass it along.

If you can get Roberts with EPatt as the 3rd guy, that's awesome. I'd assumed the third guy would be Cedeno or some pitcher I value a lot more than EPatt.

Not exactly brothers, but in 1967 Sandy Alomar was traded by the Mets to the White Sox. In 2003 the Mets traded Roberto Alomar to the White Sox.

 

The only one I could find is 1937, when Wes and Rick Ferrell traded by the Red Sox to the Senators.

Just the same, I wouldn't get too worked up over any rumor posted on a message board, we are usually among the unwashed masses who get to know when everyone else does.
