there is quite a large anti-b10 bias on this board for whatever reason.

The Big 10 beat no one outside of the Big 10 that was any good, that's why. Nothing personal Sully, it's just business.

it doesn't matter if they beat everyone outside of the b10, there'd still be people saying that the b10 was no good.

i can't wait until the illini get to beat up on some sec or pac-10 school in a bowl game, it's going to be marvelous. no respect whatsoever.

That's why I like the bowls because it forces some schools out of their protected zone.

While allowing others to play within their own protected zone.

USF is better than Illinois? The hits just keep on comin'.

Yeah, even Illinois hater Bukie seems to think so.

I'd just like to know how they are better than Illinois. SSR provided a game by game breakdown of both teams and it looks like Illinois has the slight edge over USF. USF's best win was against a Pat White-less West Virginia team. And then of course they lost 3 games in a row. I'm sorry, but good teams don't lose 3 games in a row.

As far as the whole Juice in the NFL deal, he's going to have to learn how to throw the ball with more touch on his passes. If he can improve his accuracy his final two years in college, I think he'll be drafted in a later round.

True. This is why the BE is trying to hook up a deal with the new Giant Stadium.

USF did play a tougher schedule, has a better OOC win in Auburn, had comparable losses (they were in every game, and didn't drop a game to a team as bad as Iowa), and was actually capable of blitzing teams out that didn't play in 1-AA (Louisville, Syracuse, UCF). Illinois only really blew out one "quality" team in Northwestern.

It's not clear-cut, for sure, but an argument can be made. An argument better than "lol they aren't even ranked".

Several sources have told me that Karl Dorrell will be coaching his last game in Westwood this weekend.

they should have hired neuheisel when they had the chance, it would have worked out better for both parties.

I was going to post the exact same thing, almost word for word, before I saw your post. Brad Smith was a slightly better QB (and he sucked at QB) than Juice, and definitely a better runner than Juice. There wasn't even talk of him being drafted as a QB.

I like your old sig pic....

Yeah, I still have that one bookmarked. I like this one for now but I'll change back eventually I'm sure.

He wasn't an option given that UCLA needed to and wanted to clean up the program. I'm not the biggest fan of his but Neuheisel certainly would have been better than Dorrell.

What did Neuheisel do pick against UCLA in his tourney pool?

Did anyone besides Flames even read my post? Mention of the loss to Iowa, but ignoring being a late pick away from beating the #1 team in the country? And I didn't even realize White was out the whole 2nd half. Jesu.

And I'm not sure but are you implying Louisville and Syracuse are quality teams? Cause Syracuse is the worst BCS team this side of Minnesota, and Louisville lost to that Syracuse team. And for all the talk about Juice not being a good QB, how about the incompetent boob running the USF offense. And I really don't want to slag on USF, I agree that they're underrated and should be ranked top 20, but they're not better/more deserving than Illinois.

Come hell or high water, UCLA wanted to clean up their program and apparently Neuheisel was viewed poorly for his tourney pool thing.

Of course Dorrell reinstated a kicker who was drunk driving and ditched his injured athlete gf (possibly for dead) in the car. And then Dorrell hired an ex-con (who allegedly robbed a house last year) to take charge of recruiting.

Old fart Tom Osborne names himself interim coach. May he fail miserably.

Hilarious.

I was watching ESPN when they were talking about this. Apparently, he found a loophole. A college coach is only allowed to visit a recruit's home once. But Osborne can visit himself while he is interim coach, and then when he names the new coach, the new coach can go back and visit that same recruit. Pretty smart.

Plus, he's Tom Osborne. The name alone carries weight with athletes. Maybe not as much as my generation (mid 20s) and older, but still a good bit of weight I'd say.

I think this is a good move.

Patrick Cowan announced as the starting QB against USC. Don't think it's a good idea starting a guy who barely is recovering from a collapsed lung with UCLA's awful offensive line against USC's fantastic front 7.

Less than 40 hours til the SEC Championship!

I'm really excited about this game. Tennessee gave Auburn a great fight in the last SEC Championship game and I think the gap between the teams is closer this year. LSU is a great team, but inferior to 2004 Auburn, whereas this Tennessee team is much better than the 04 version.

Terribly unscientific, I understand, but I've got all kinds of thoughts about this game stewing in my mind.

Right now, I say LSU by 10. I may change my mind by gametime, though. If the Tigers come out flat early it could cost them the game. If they show up to play, they could demolish the Vols.

Yea, Juice as a sophomore is the way to judge him. Well at least there is no argument at all regarding Tebows NFL chances. We all know how great those Florida QB's do in the NFL.

Yeah because Tim Tebow has a lot in common with all those Florida QB's, other than the fact he played at Florida.

Same Coach? No.

Same System? No.

The argument was always the Spurrier system argument...Tebow probably has never even met Steve Spurrier off the football field. Really using that argument is incredibly logically dishonest and anyone who uses it seriously should be laughed at.

That said, Tim Tebow is probably going to go in the first round if he's healthy, wins a heisman and continues to rock next year (see Alex Smith). However, how much of his passing success is because of his legs remains to be seen and he's a risky bet for a first round pick. I wouldn't take him before the second round at the earliest. His power running threat won't be much of a factor and his little fake QB draw thing won't be as potent in the NFL. Not only that he's likely to end up in a body bag if he scrambles as much as he does now in the NFL. He's probably a better FB prospect for the NFL than QB. If he was a pure FB he'd probably go in the first or second round.

Homer.

My flight to Texas leaves tomorrow at 2. Staying at my gf's parent's house in Dallas tomorrow night, then we're all leaving early Saturday morning for San Antonio. I'm so jacked up.

Prediction:

Mizzou flips the score from the last game, beats OU 41-31.

I can't stand to say it, because I think Mizzou in the title game would be fun as hell and would possibly lead to NSBB anarchy, but if Miami beats CMU in the MAC title game, I'll be forced to root against Mizzou so that Ball State can get in a bowl. It sucks.

So now why doesnt Lloyd do this. In his presser he stated that its the right time to do it now because if he waits till later in the year that coach wont be able to visit the kids because he already has. Lloyd. ](*,)

Well good luck and enjoy the game! I'd like to see a well played competitive game and when UT loses, they really lose by a lot this year.

Pretty clear to me that Dorrell is trying to pull out all of the stops in order to try to save his job.

This is gonna be a slooooooooooow day and half until the Mizzou game. I can't wait. I'm gonna watch it at a bar, Harpo's. Should be a very rowdy crowd.
