We are listed as possible destinations for Tejada and Crawford and the packages we'd give up aren't very far fetched.

I'd say yes to the Tejada deal and no to the Crawford one. I'd really like the Tejada deal, even though I think he's declining. All 3 of those players the Cubs are trading have talent, but for differing reasons will likely never nail down a job with the Cubs, so trading the 3 of them for a real upgrade at SS would be just fine with me.

I don't think that package gets it done for Tejada and Bedard. I also don't know what we'd have the Angels would want for Santana. Also, I doubt in that scenario that Crawford would bat anywhere other than leadoff.

Yeah, seems a little too good to be true, but if this deal is actually acceptable to the O's then Hendry better get it done. We're locked into win-now mode for the next 2-3 years so there can't be any untouchable youngsters.

Where does this perception (that is constantly repeated by several users) that we can get Erik Bedard for peanuts come from? Yeah, there was a rumor of Tejada and Bedard for Prior four years ago. It's going to take a lot more than that to get him now.

Why would you have Crawford, and not Fukudome, hitting 2nd? Because of his speed? Fukudome has #2 in the order written all over him: high OB%, good speed, and he hits tons of doubles.

Even then, wasn't it Baltimore's refusal to include Bedard the reason the Prior deal fell apart? Bedard has an extraordinary amount of trade value. As dumb as MacPhail is, that package is not even close to what it would take too net Bedard and Tejada.

I would take the Tejada deal and go after Willis. Making the rotation, Zambrano, Lilly, Willis, Hill, Marquis/Dempster.

I would take the Tejada deal and go after Willis. Making the rotation, Zambrano, Lilly, Willis, Hill, Marquis/Dempster.

 

Dontrelle is a 5th starter. He's got no business being in front of Hill.

 

I'd take him and his likely $8-10m salary off Florida's hands in a Cabrera deal, but I wouldn't trade for him just to trade for him.
