If they only could have eeked out that win against Mizzou...

Then of course the Iowa debacle, that's what really hurt.

Yeah, as it turns out, if you'd beaten Iowa, you'd be going to the Rose Bowl regardless of UM/OSU.

Thanks. You just made me cry 8-)

although lsu is probably the best team in the country

I think Oregon, but I think we'll get to see it settled on the field.

thats the problem....its a 45-55 split game. it wont be settled on the field...

and LSU would basically be playing a home game in NOLA

Often times the SEC rep finds themselves playing what I would term a "semi-home" game, or in front of a 70/30 split fanbase in favor.

I still feel it's the best conference, but it should be noted everyone heads to warm weather for the bowls.

Yep, ya got me. All Mizzou fans support slavery. In fact, I might as well make it known that I have three of my own.

Seriously, the whole ku fans calling Mizzou fans "slavers" is so incredibly stupid. As is Mizzou fans calling ku fans "terrorists." All so juvenile and dumb. Rant over.

You going to the game in KC Snood? I'm hearing it's gonna be 7 p.m. and possibly Gameday there. That would be awesome. Incredibly intense, but still awesome.

I was just trying to get your goat, just like I was trying to get Meph riled up about FLA, but he didn't really take the bait.

No, I don't have the scratch to get to there from LA. It's going to be a madhouse, though. And if it's a 7PM game...all that tailgating...all the mutual hate...it might get ugly.

I still haven't figured out how we'll stop Maklin (sp) and your 2 TEs. I guess just hope we can run the ball on you and keep you off the field. How were you against aTm's running game?

Haha mission completed. We actually "held" them to 133 yards rushing, which is about 100 below their average. I really thought Mizzou was gonna beat ku by two touchdowns until last week. Now I think it can go either way. And I definitely expect both teams to probably be in the 30's in points.

And yeah, although it's gonna be an awesome game, a 7 oclock game is a bad idea. Definitely interested to see how many arrests there's gonna be. Alcohol+mass quantities of Mizzou and kansas fans= disaster. Looking forward to it!

What do you mean by this, I don't really understand why it won't be settled on the field?

if you flip a coin and it lands on heads does that mean heads is better than tails? no.

sure it would settle something....but it wouldnt tell us which team was better.

Ah, ok. That makes sense now. I don't necessarily agree with what you're saying but I get your point.

footballs just like baseball, the best team doesnt always win....although the better team wins a lot more in football than in baseball.

florida plays fsu every year.

arkansas and texas get their old rivalry back together for games in 08 and 09, with Arkansas going to UT in 08.

2008 Schedules vs BCS schools or big name mid major schools:

Arkansas at Texas

Ole Miss at Wake Forest

Auburn at West Virginia

Tennessee at UCLA

South Carolina at Clemson

Kentucky at Louisville

Georgia vs Georgia Tech

Georgia at Arizona State

Florida vs Hawaii

Florida vs Miami (Fl)

Florida at Florida State

Mississippi State at Georgia Tech

Alabama is trying to get Clemson to play opening week next season. The SEC doesn't play anyone out of conference argument isn't going to work next year. Not to mention they're on the road a lot.

That's fine and about time. I still feel every BCS conference team should play at least 2 home and homes against other BCS teams and against 2 different BCS conferences. I'd like to see a couple of Big 12 and 10 teams on that list but it is nice to see a couple of Pac 10's.

it would really help the big ten's ability to schedule tough OOC games if they'd stop ending their season the weekend before thanksgiving every year.

It would help if the conference didn't refuse to play ND after September.

Yea, scheduling Notre Dane would really help the Big Tens out of conference schedule lol.

I have heard some grumbling this year about a lack of bye week. Dantonio said something about a lack of bye week and I think I remember hearing another Big 10 coach say something about it. It would probably help get some players healthy. I am not sure how much more it might help.

Juicy.....
Three separate sources indicate that Carr has made his decision to retire official and people around the athletic department are being told. The formal announcement will come after the Ohio State game, possibly at the Monday press conference, possibly a day or two later.

Awesome news. It's about time.

Hopefully, the next coach will install a playbook that includes more than 7 plays in it.

Just wondering, but any chance Jim Harbaugh would be brought in to coach Michigan?

teams are reluctant to play more than one legitimate OOC game because they don't have time to prepare for more good teams and recover physically as well. I know the Big 11 has ALWAYS ended the weekend before thanksgiving, but maybe they can look around and see that ending a solid two weeks before a lot of other major conferences puts them at a significant disadvantage. But no, God forbid we mess with tradition.

I sort of meant the ones who already do play them (Purdue, MSU, Michigan). They won't play them after September. Used to be under the guise of "not interrupting the conference season", but of course now at least one team in the conference plays an OOC patsy each week, rotating off.

Yeah it really hurt them last year. I think that is why next year(or maybe the year after) they are adding a bye week and going to the week of Thanksgiving. They should have done this as soon as the 12th game was added. Personally I think they ought to start a week later, keep the bye week and go to the same weekend as all the conference championship games.

apparently the scheduling (no bye week, who they play) does not get run by the coaches at all. Paterno has gone on record several times saying that he is never asked about any of this. The Big Ten higher ups have their heads about as far up their rectums as possible

You said "it's about time" when I indicated to you that Auburn was playing two BCS schools this year. Truly, the other conferences have to be on board with playing SEC teams as well if this is going to work. It's already been noted that the Big Ten's out of conference schedule next year in significantly weaker than the SEC's. You seem content to concentrate on the "good ole boys", but if there is preferential treatment, then the Big Ten also receives it.

Are we sure the Pac 10, Big 12, ACC and Big East's out of conference schedules are any tougher than the SEC's next year? I haven't had time to check those.
