Why would we be better with Matsui playing and not getting Fukudome?

Have you ever said anything, and then regretted it?

To clarify, IF getting Matsui has any positive influence on whether or not the Cubs can persuade Fukudome to join the team - the team would be better with Matsui. Simply because I think Fukudome is exactly what the Cubs need in the #2 spot in the lineup.

But I also think that Soriano belongs in the middle of the lineup, and I think Ryan Theriot is a good player.

And I think I'd have a chance with Scarlett Johanson if we were to wind up hanging out for some reason. We're both wrong.

I thought she had that restraining order that said you couldn't be within 1000 feet?

Which is why I need her to agree to hang out with me. If she justs gets to know me I'm sure she'll change her mind.

jcf, I'm afraid you have zero chance with her. I hear she thinks Jim Hendry is an excellent GM.

Rocky Mountain News

So did second baseman Kazuo Matsui, whom the Rockies have conceded they will lose. Matsui, 32, is expected to sign a three- year deal for about $15 million with the Chicago Cubs or Houston Astros.

I hate this. Just sign him already Ed. Please save us.

Was Kaz on steroids in 2002 with Seibu?

.332/36 HRs/87 RBI

I would pay 3/15MM for that kind of production at 2b.

We could have that kind of production if we just moved Soriano to second. Granted, there might be as many errors as home runs, but hey, whatever.

so it seems like this signing would be an attempt to strengthen the bench (by moving derosa there) even though it would weaken the everyday lineup (by installing matsui). why not just sign mike lamb to play 3b, bench aramis and make that bench really strong?

JERRY: Well, this is gonna be my first opportunity to not kiss her hello.

ELAINE: What is the big deal about putting your lips on somebody's face?

JERRY: It's the obligation, you know? As soon as this person comes in, you know you have to do this. I mean, if you could, say, touch a breast as part of the kiss hello, then I think I could see the value in it a little better.

ELAINE: How 'bout an intercourse hello? How would that be?

JERRY: Elaine, now you're being ridiculous.

Let me know when Soriano hits .332

My friend just texted me and told me that Kaz signed with the Astros. Anyone else hear this?

Edit: He said they reported it on ESPN 1000. 3 years 15 million

:) Nope, my roommate. He's trustworthy unless he heard something out of context. Just weird that I don't see it anywhere else.

Just heard the 8:20 update, Levine is reporting Matsui is going to the Astros!!!

Interesting...

Of course you know he is going to go to Houston and play like a mad man. By July Hendry will be getting blasted for not ponying up the dough for him.

Thank God for Ed Wade.

Of course, this probably means Hendry will go after Christian Guzman now.
