The bright orange jacket is excellent.

Weber did it first.

And Pearl's a scumbag.

Ummm, Weber did it first? Perhaps someone should tell that to Ray Mears, who did it in the 60's for the Vols, and is the reason why Pearl does it now.

Got me on that, was not aware. Thanks for not contending Pearl being a scumbag. :)

When your facts are wrong (orange blazer) it's easy to argue. When you opinion is, not so much. And I have no interest in arguing for the sake of arguing. You dislike Pearl. So be it. AS a UT fan, I like him. NOthing you say will change that.

arguing over which coach started wearing a hideously ugly orange jacket first? priceless

i liked tennessee a lot coming into this year; looks like they're as good as i thought they could be. if the tourney started tomorrow, i'd have them winning it all.

Adding Tyler Smith was huge for them. I never felt like people (media included) understood just how important that addition was.

JP Prince was just as big an addition as Tyler was. Two EXCELLENT transfers.

Yes, but Smith's hardship waiver allowing him to play without sitting out -- not implying it was an incorrect decision -- significantly shifted the balance of power nationally. It was a huge advantage for Tennessee and took this year's team from Sweet 16 good to top-5 good. I don't believe they'd be a title contender without him; they are with him.

Oh, I know Iowa fans, and Big Ten fans in general, understood how good Smith was. I just don't think that awareness was present nationally.

I'm not saying that the Smith transfer isn't huge- every bit as big as the Prince transfer, if not bigger. I am just suggesting that Smith gets alot of credit, while Prince gets overlooked, while almost every player on the team- including Smith- states that Prince is the most talented player on the UT roster.

Regardless, I am thrilled to have both. Basketball is fun in Knoxville again.

Good half of basketball. Kentucky's lack of depth is going to be their undoing. Tennessee by 15 is my guess.
Um.....

(I just have to rub it in a little since I went to graduate school at Kentucky.)

Good game by UK tonight.

UK won this game by doing exactly what they had to do. They controlled the tempo, handled the press, and pounded the ball into Patterson (who is the best big we've faced since Oden). And let no one, anywhere- ever- suggest that Rupp is not one of the most difficult places for an opponent to win a game in conference.

Okay, continue your Big 10 pissing match.

All you Penn State fans can stop pretending like you know anything about basketball now that Claxton is hurt.

ah so i guess because the team that one follows sucks, you inherently know nothing about the sport?

looks like when it comes to baseball, we are all ignorant.

Yay, UK. Ugh, that's gross. Last time I'll ever say that. It's always good when a team IU beats, beats a top team in the country. Big win for UKs resume. If they turn it around that will help IUs RPI/SOS.

Nope, based on the Penn St. basketball fans randomly showing up for 5 posts per basketball season, and usually not knowing much about the team beyond Claxton.

Ball State blew a chance to steal one on the road last night. Covering this team for the paper is sort of frustrating.

early all-american team

Beasley

Hansborough

Augustin

Gordon

I can't decide on the final slot, maybe Rose?

Damn, Mata-Real is doubtful at Oregon Thursday (concussion - cheap shot by USC's Daniel Hackett) and Mbah a Moute (concussion) is questionable. If UCLA plays without those two, they'd have a rotation of 8 scholarship players and the two possibilities on replacing Luc in the starting lineup either average 6.5 mins/game or 10.5 mins/game so far this season. :|

I wouldn't put Gordon on there.

Who would you put in his place? 22ppg, 48 percent from the field, 42 percent from 3.

I was kidding about Gordon. He has to be there. 2nd in the major conferences in scoring behind Beasley.

Beasley

Hansbrough

Gordon

Augustin (my POTY right now)

Are all givens.

For the last spot, gotta consider DJ White, Wayne Ellington, Ty Lawson (better case than Rose, IMO), Sean Singletary, and Shan Foster

Illinois with 6 moral victories in the conference thus far, tied with Wisconsin for the lead. Way to keep it close, guys!
