Michigan State, a team who is known for its defense, cannot miss right now.

IU could play their A game and be down by 10-15 right now. Instead, they are losing by 30, but as long as Michigan State is shooting over 80% from both the field and from 3 point land, there's not much you can do.

ND dispatched DePaul 98-91, staving off a 60-point half by the Blue Demons in the 2nd frame. Harangody had 24 and 9 while Kurz added 21 and 7. The win officially locks up a 1st round bye in the Big East tourney.

Here's a shot of Erin Andrews at the KU game last night. I love the guy to the right doing the "Lean back, check ass" move.

IU hasn't looked prepared to play a single time since Dakich took over. I was willing to give them a free pass for the Northwestern game but now it's been 3 straight games like this....Dakich needs to stop playing nice and assert himself here.

Exactly. But how much is his fault and how much is it the players stubborness? The Sampson "resignation" is one thing, but I think a lot of this has to do with them not wanting Dakich as much as they wanted McCallum. Clearly, the trust isn't there. They beat NW and OSU because of pure talent, and will beat Minnesota and Penn St, and win 2 games in the Big Ten and NCAA tourney's because of talent. But this team has a chance to do something special and is starting to give up.

I thought this needed to be quoted.

Let's go Arizona.

Holy crap, I'm going to get a heart attack from these guys eventually.

And as always, SUCK IT ARIZONA! Juniors at Arizona don't know what it's like to beat UCLA. :D

I put most of the blame on the players for this (well, along with Sampson). However, it's time for Dakich to ban the "KS" on the shoes. Either you play for Indiana, or you play for Sampson. If you play for Sampson, you can go shoot around in his driveway, because that's all he's coaching these days.

Dakich is a solid coach, but the players clearly are not listening or playing hard for him at all.

WTF was the Zona post player thinking? He had an open 6 footer, with a lane, and GAVE IT UP?!? For an unnecessary 3?!?

You don't deserve to win playing like that.

i am not a kentucky fan. i don't care what anybody says. i want kentucky to go winless every season, even if it kills our strength of schedule.

having said that, i feel insulted as a fan of basketball by the end of that game. wtf was kentucky doing WALKING the ball up court with around 90 seconds left to play and wtf were they thinking jacking up threes when the could have done better by getting a quick 2 and playing defense? that was not a very smart ending of the game and there was no sense of urgency in the team at all. well, up until there was 10 seconds on the shot clock.

there goes your season (officially). i really can't see this team with that basketball iq level even making it in the field of 64 in 2 weeks.

The post player was like their 9th guy in their rotation. He should have taken the shot especially because he can hit that shot (and has in games before) but I understand the thought process behind passing it up when you average 10 mins/game and there are still about 5 seconds left. Bayless wasn't looking for a 3 but he couldn't turn the corner and try to get inside against Westbrook.

Soccer10k would enjoy this, probably no one else: Oregon State actually led by 5 midway through the second half before losing to Oregon 68-61 at home. I think that was their best chance to win a Pac-10 game...they have ASU and Arizona at home as they try to avoid becoming the first Pac-10 team ever to go winless in conference (USC did do it in 1975).

they were not going to win that game regardless, but getting beat down the court on defense constantly throughout the game is purely about hustle, and nothing else. they can't win road games in the big ten with that type of effort, period.

We've had 3 injured players out for the year and lost another to grades. Still, I don't like the fact that Boeheim never gives players rest during the game. This has been my beef with him forever. First, he says that they're kids and they should be able to play 40 minutes and then the next game he says they were tired. His lack of faith in kids that are on the bench is killing this team while he overplays guys who don't play hard. Sometimes the guy is just way too stubborn. These kids fad all the time near the end of a game because of this.

KU won. I don't think the foul trouble was a game-changing factor, though tadowdaddy might disagree. For me, the biggest factors were Bill Walker's inability to compose himself/play well under adversity and KU's 3pt shooting. Beasley looked slightly rattled (for Beasley), but overall he was as cool as a cucumber. Hard to believe he's 19 or whatever. KSU's looking at 2 must wins at the end of the season and probably at least 1-1 in the Big XII tourney to be guaranteed an NCAA berth.

As far as KU goes, I dunno. The team frustrates me. I've seen teams that lose focus from game to game. This team has dramatic intensity spikes within games, though. It's baffling. Hopefully tonight signaled the return of Sherron Collins and an overall fiercer attitude. And say what you want about Sasha Kaun, the guy always gives it his all. I wish he were a bit more fluid.

While I will disagree to some extent that the early fouls didn't change the game, it didn't change the fact that Bill Walker has been a suck ass for the last 3 or so games. Congrats on the win, we're definitely not a good team right now. I hope this means that Walker's draft status is hurting and that he'll be back next year. We could be in decent shape if he decides to come back and we get Hoskins back. We had BETTER beat CU and ISU the next two games so we don't just totally crap away our tournament chances.

snood, this is my view of KU that I posted on another board:

I've always thought Self couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag, even when he was at Illinois. His teams always start out really well and then fade down the stretch as teams get accustomed to what they do and how they do it. The difference between Billy and the good coaches is that they all add new wrinkles to their stuff as the year goes on, their teams improve execution wise, and they just gel better. Self's teams don't do that, ever. Add to that the fact that he is terrible at in game adjustments and you get what KU has been since he got there: a great regular season team that fades down the stretch and doesn't live up to expectations in the dance.

Stanford vs. UCLA on Thursday at Pauley...the second time this year two top-10 Pac-10 teams have matched up at Pauley this season (of course WSU vs UCLA was actually a battle of top-5 teams). The game could also determine the Pac-10 regular season championship.

How's Coach Wooden doing after his fall?

Much better but still in the hospital. Coach was in good spirits and cracking jokes the day after the fall. :)

yeah, you've said as much before, and I think it's silly, so there's not much point in arguing it.

Well, KU certainly didn't flame out or whatever it was last season. They got matched up against what amounts to the co-number 1 seed in the Elite 8.

There is a bit of luck that goes into getting into the Final Four.
