I would just like to point out that while I think McCamey looks solid for a freshman and should be starting:

He's averaging 7.6 points, 2.6 boards, 3.2 assists and 2.2 turnovers in 25 minutes. He's shooting terribly. .356% FG, .58%FT, 30%3FG. Those are pedestrian numbers even for a freshman.

His offensive efficiency numbers are the worst of any Illini besides Chester Frazier and those were majorly boosted by a couple of games.

Williams had 4.5 assists to only 1.8 turnovers, shot 43% from the field and 35% from 3.

deron didn't have to do as much offensively, and played with the bt poy and ftoy. he could afford to be more selective with his shot. plus, he had some great defenders backing him up.

who on God's green earth, is going to take shots for this team if it's not mccamey? it definitely looks like either weber isn't interested in making brock the center of the offense, which he should, or brock is too passive to want the ball more. dmac has to take the shots, and he's doing well as of late taking those shots.

From what I have read Weber is very fed up with Brock because he is always clowing around and doesn't take the game seriously. I don't know how much credence to put into that, but it is at least a theory.

if weber were more interested in winning than in proving points, brock and mccamey would be starting every game and taking the majority of the shots. that's one of the problems i have with bruce, although he has grown on me in the last few months.

Yes, but right or wrong he feels he lost this team. Hell Pruitt doesn't respect him at all. he threw a fit after getting pulled in the second half yesterday. I think by being tough with the younger guys he is trying to show them who runs the team.

Apparently you are a murder too.

no, he's a rational human being that posts rational things in response to other rational posts, despite his obvious handicap of being a hawkeye fan. he is not a raving lunatic that goes screaming off into the night at an innocuous statement.

Nah he's a murderer. It is obvious because he questioned McCamey.

Plus I didn't scream about anything. I have been a big supporter of McCamey all year long. But it is your story, keep telling it how you want.

dude, you wet your pants when i suggested that maybe, some day, he could possibly be better than williams. which is not out if the realm of possibilities.

a non-psychotic response to such a statement would be "i disagree, deron is one of the best players in illini history and mccamey has a very long way to go to measure up."

not the flaming, neurotic crap that you're known for. hence, you're a creepy mass murderer in the making, imo. that's all.

Right, because on this board the well thought out response has been the norm lately. As for the mass murder thing, are you kidding me? I know everyone on here likes to poke fun at every little thing, but some of this junk is just over the line. I really don't see how you would find humor in declaring someone who posts on a message board a future mass murderer. Especially when you have never met me.

Also when I wet my pants, was it because I laughed. Because the thought of McCamey being better as a frosh than Williams was is funny. If you don't see it that way I guess I rape babies.

Nah Deron Williams is a Deron Williams. Deron Williams is Deron Williams because Deron Williams questioned Deron Williams.

Plus Deron Williams didn't scream about Deron Williams. Deron Williams have been a big Deron Williams of Deron Williams all year long. But Deron Williams is your Deron Williams, keep telling Deron Williams how Deron Williams want.

Maybe if your posts didn't read like this 95% of the time anyone wants to talk basketball, people would be more apt to discussion.

While I agree (and had a Chris Paul quip ready to go), Sulley was over the top there.

True, not my fault all that happened while I was at lunch. I had the Deron Williams thing all queued up and ready to go. :P

Looks like Sampson is out, not surprising.

The Rivals site lists the following three as the top candidates.

Tony Bennett WSU

Brad Brownell Wright St

Sean Miller Xavier

A lot of IU fans have an obsession w/ Brownell. He's from Indiana and had good success at UNC-Wilmington and Wright St. I think he'd have to be very impressive to hire though since hiring a coach from smaller schools such as those would raise some eyebrows. it worked for Bo Ryan and UW though.

If Tony Bennett goes to Indiana, I want credit for being the first to suggest it. I hope he doesn't leave the Pac-10 though, WSU being so successful is really good for the conference.

Of those three, I'd take Brownell. I might be biased, he went to my high school, but still. I like him a lot. If IU decides to go with a young up-and-comer, I hope it's Brownell.

Certainly weird: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/huskies/2004186798_umen170.html

It began Friday when OSU senior forward Marcel Jones and freshman center Sean Carter led a contingent of about five Beavers onto the court at the end of UW's practice, with Jones boasting, "Don't let our record fool you."

...

Washington players and coaches said a Beavers player, who several identified as Jones, left a voice message for Huskies guard Joel Smith, asking UW players to come to the parking lot of the hotel where Washington was staying, and fight.

Oregon State coach Kevin Mouton denied that any Beavers players went to UW team hotel, two blocks from Gill Coliseum, though several in the Huskies party confirmed the incident.

"We were all just kind of laughing about it like, 'Hey, they are going to come to the hotel here and fight," Appleby said. "We were like, 'I don't think so,' and just laughed it off and focused on the game. I think they were just trying to intimidate us."

Oregon State realizes that they don't stand a chance of beating any Pac-10 teams on the court so they figure they might as well try off the court. Too bad for them, they probably would have lost the fight with UW as well.

Interesting, Mouton suspended Jones and Carter for the game tonight at Pauley.

Like when I was able to give snoodmonger first hand info on one of Kansas' recruits? Was that one of those 5%. Or when throughout this topic I asked for McCamey to get minutes?

If it is Miller, Xavier really has had a nice coaching tree go on to other places.

btw, during the pre-game, Michael Beasley predicted--on camera--that he might "go for fifty" in last night's game. He scored 17. And they lost. At Nebraska.

And Bill Walker spiked the ball after a routine put-back, resulting in a T. What a class operation in Manhattan.

I was shocked and impressed to see Martin bench him the last 9 minutes after that though.

They're such a weird team. The numbers indicate that they're right up there with the elite teams. Then I watch them and they just don't resemble one.

This team is Jeckel and Hyde. Some nights they look "elite" and others they look like clueless freshmen. I applaud Martin for benching Walker the rest of the game. These dudes need to learn that they're representing the school. Last night was also the first game of the year that I felt Martin coached poorly. I've enjoyed watching him on the sidelines this year, and i feel that he's going to end up being a pretty good coach. He hasn't made a lot bad moves all year until last nights poor defensive calls. We should have been in the zone 10 mins into the game. Oh well, it happens I guess with a team this young and inexperienced. What I wouldn't give to have Hoskins in the lineup as an actual Senior leader. It would help a ton. As it is now, you have two REALLY cocky guys in Beasley and Walker who haven't grown up yet. Losing Hoskins really hurt this team personality wise. We definitely miss the Senior leadership.

In that order.

Overcoming a hot-shooting (at least the first 28 minutes or so) Pitt and Tim Higgins's most otherworldly display of awful officiating, Notre Dame extends the Joyce win streak to 35, 82-70 over Pitt. :D

In an unusual occurrance a game was rained out. Thursday's Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech ACC matchup was called because of a leaky roof, with a forecast of 2-3 inches of rain. It isn't yet known whether the game can be rescheduled.

I can only hope that list of coaching targets is accurate. I'm still scared to death we'll get on a roll in the NCAA Tourney and end up giving Dakich the job full-time.
