I can't help it. I really enjoy it when Duke loses. Especially when it means that Carolina has a good shot at the ACC regular season title, when it really wasn't looking good there for a bit.

Not that anyone but me cares, but Quentin Thomas is finally looking like a decent point guard. I'll still be thrilled to have Ty Lawson back, though. I'm a bit worried about Wake Forest if we don't have him running the show.

Another night, another Oregon State loss which makes 16 in a row. They've only lost two Pac-10 games by fewer than 10 points (at Cal by 5 and at Washington by 9). Every other Pac-10 game as been by 10+. But hey, what do you expect from a team that didn't look very good against an 8-18 UC Davis team.

I believe, ironically, Sampson chaired a coaching ethics committee at one time? Did he not? Well, IU you got your Kelvin Sampson and Eric Gordon along, with U of I in crapper this season. However, I believe Weber and the Illini will recover and be back on the map, not so sure about IU. Hope it was worth it...

wow, they really have a lot of loyalty to their school, that's for sure. they also seem to understand the bind that sampson has put the school in. kelvin, you ain't keeping your job, give it up,.

After the Gordon fiasco didn't you mention something about karma one day hitting Sampson right between the eyes? Well, I didn't think it would happen so quickly.

"If Sampson ain't coaching, we ain't playing."

This is awesome.

This is simply not an accurate report from everything else I've been seeing on Peegs and the Hoosier Scoop.

Well It would be career suicide for D.J. White. He is a possible NBA player, if he sits out the rest of the year he would really hurt his draft chances. Obviously Gordon is good enough, while teams would frown upon it, he would be ok.

You're not sure IU will recover? Is that a joke?

Do any IU fans know who the redacted player is?

Judging by the length of the name and the capitalization, it's DeAndre Thomas or DeShawn Thomas. Since other current college players were named and DeShawn Thomas is a minor, that's most likely who it is.

Ok, I know that Skip Bayless said, per peegs, that it was EJ. That would have been a nightmare for IU were it the case.

Other minors were named.

DeAndre Thomas was already implicated(probably the wrong word here) in the report that stemmed from the initial October self-reporting. It's likely him.

Although Eric Gordon Jr. = DeAndre Thomas.

I obviously don't know for sure, but I really don't think that's the case. The full name appears way too long to be Gordon and I'm not sure why he'd be blacked out (yes, he'd be the only current Hoosier, but that info would come out anyway). The NCAA would also perhaps come down quicker and harder; and IU would likely think about a self-imposed post-season ban. Obviously, having Gordon included would be a nightmare. Bayless is a moron.

From everything I've heard/read the players threatening to quit isn't true. Even so, players threatened the same when Coach Knight and Davis were fired/resigned and not much came of it. There's about no chance of a player revolt canceling the season.

I didn't word that properly, what I meant is as a result Sampson' actions IU Basketball may be hit with some sanctions and will be down in the near future.

I believe the NCAA requires that the names be blacked out until the accusations are proven. If Sampson cheated to get Gordon I would hope all of the ESPN talking heads, Jay Bilas I am looking at you, at least have the decency to come out and apologize for the way they "covered" the whole EJ/IU/UI angle.

Yeah the only thing I would worry about were I an IU fan is how they handle Sampson now. These reports are not a good thign to be coming out. They scream lack of institutional control, which I do not think is the case here at all. Greenspan and his pals need to get this resolved.

Are you sure other minors were named? There are some current high school players named, but all are seniors I believe. They might not be minors (I am unsure). There are also no unsigned players that I know of -- well, besides Bud Mackey.

And you're right, adding the "Jr." would change things. Didn't think about that.

Short-term is definitely a question mark, no doubt. Indiana is likely to get a good coach -- hell, even if they did the typical IU thing and hired Dan Dakich, I think they could fair decently in the coming years. Also, 2009 is a very good class again in the state of Indiana, which could serve as a quick remedy.
