i didn't think it was really officiated in KUs favor. I thought it was just typical ed hightower crap officiating all around..

There were a few times I thought traveling should've been called on kansas under the hoop, but nothing that was called against Mizzou changed the game all that much. Like you said, it's just bad all around officiating, and again by Hightower. You know a ref is bad when he's at the NCAA level and I recognize his name.

Does anyone like that clown? How does he keep his job. You ask anyone for the worst referees in college basketball and odds are he is one of the names they are gonna say.

As bad as he is, he's still better than Valentine.

Valentine is infamous in Notre Dame circles for calling a blocking foul on Colin Falls in last year's NCAA tournament loss to Winthrop after the Irish were already near midcourt and about ready to run their offensive set after an apparent defensive stop. The key moment in the game, I believe Winthrop was up 4 or 6 when it happened. He is a terrible ref.

Hightower actually came and reffed a Ball State/CMU game earlier this season. I'm not sure how that happened.

Ha ha, you think Ted Valentine is infamous in Notre Dame circles. If he's infamous in ND circles, I have no idea what he is in IU circles (the antichrist?).

Heh, and of course, Hightower is reffing this Michigan-tOSU game. It seems like whenever Musberger announces a game, he's the lead official.

SIU-Indiana State in 40 minutes. I'm sweating buckets, but I'm going to go to it. Time to get over the .500 hump once again.

Also, go Drake.

Wow, we had a tornado warning about halfway through the first half. That was a little bit crazy.

And we somehow scored 80 points. Brian Mullins had a solid game for us tonight.

Drake beat Illinois State 73-70, so SIU is only 1 game out of 2nd place in the MVC.

He officiated at least one Ball State game I attended back when I was in school.

Lawson is doubtful for the Duke game, won't know for sure until game time, with a pretty good idea after practice tomorrow.

All this means is that when Carolina loses to Duke tomorrow, I'll have an excuse. I agree with you that Lawson is the engine that makes the team go. I love watching him play.

Tennessee puts an absolute beatdown on the Fightin' Mephistopheles'. Tyler Smith, Jajuan Smith, and Chris Lofton combine for over 70 points in a 102-80 bitch slapping of Florida.

After opening the game being down 16-3, Tennessee outscores the Gators 99-64 for their 20th win of the year.

Purdue is 9-1 in the Big 10

Purdue has a really nice young team. Their next couple games (@Wisc, MSU) may determine how successful they will be in the Big 10 this season.

Hopefully, Scott Martin's ankle will be ready to go for Saturday's game. If he has to miss any games, that's going to have a big impact on how the Boilers play down the stretch.

Purdue has been amazing. Everyone knew their recruiting class was very good, but to be 9-1 at this point despite their youth is extremely impressive. Bodes very, very well for their future. Not many believed me around here, but Purdue's class was long-term better than IU's. Short-term I'd still take IU's. I don't think Purdue will win the Big Ten (I think 12-14 wins for them), but that won't take away from their future.

There's been more than a foot of snow here since last night and it's going to continue throughout the afternoon. After that it's going to blow around with some decent wind. It's an absolute mess out there.

As a result I hope we can just get 5,000 in there tonight, but I doubt it. I wish they would postpone the game but since Wisconsin is here it sounds like they'll play it.

Anybody in the Chicago area that wants to check out #10 Butler, can do so for pretty cheap. It's pretty sad that UIC has to do this for a nationally ranked team.

Fifth Third Bank Presents "Pack The Pavilion" Night On Feb. 20

UIC to host No. 10 Butler at the UIC Pavilion at 7 p.m.

Feb. 6, 2008

Chicago, Ill.- The UIC Athletic Department and Fifth Third Bank present "Pack the Pavilion" night on Wednesday, Feb. 20 for the UIC men's basketball team's game against No. 10 Butler at the UIC Pavilion.

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 7, Fifth Third Bank is providing free tickets to the game for its customers while supplies last at select branch locations. Fifth Third Bank will also donate tickets to top achievers at several area schools.

In addition, fans can purchase 200-level seats for the game at a special price of $2 from now until Feb. 18. The reduced-price tickets are on sale at the UIC Student Center East Information Desk, UIC Student Center West Information Desk, the UIC Pavilion Box Office and the UIC Athletic Ticket Office inside the Flames Athletic Center.

Great lower-level seats are still available for just $15 each by calling the UIC Athletic Ticket Office at 312-413-UIC1 or through Ticketmaster.

"Being a proud sponsor of the UIC Flames basketball team is just one of the many `Things We Do for Dreams' through our products and community involvement," said Holly Hughes, Senior Vice President for Marketing at Fifth Third Bank. "Fifth Third Bank's commitment to supporting the community, customers and children is why we are hosting `Pack the Pavilion' night on February 20."

"Thanks to the generosity of Fifth Third Bank, the Feb. 20 game is shaping up to feature our largest crowd of the season," said Scott Garrett, Director of Sales and Ticket Operations at the UIC Athletic Department. "We're counting on all Flames fans to come out and create an atmosphere that will help our team defeat the No. 10 Bulldogs."

"Pack the Pavilion" night will be the Flames' final regular season home game of the 2007-08 campaign and pits UIC against the Bulldogs, who are currently ranked 10th in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.

Last year's game between UIC and Butler at the Pavilion was one to remember, as the Flames beat the then-No. 12 Bulldogs in a wild overtime affair, 73-67, on Jan. 10, 2007.

So far the Flames are 10-1 at the Pavilion this season, nearing the 1997-98 Pavilion mark of 13-1 that stands as the Flames' best home record.

It should be a great game, we're nowhere near Butler's level but they usually step it up for home games. UIC also has the best (% wise) 3 point shooter in the nation.

Notre Dame clobbers Seton Hall 95-69 on the road behind 22 and 13 by the awesome Luke Harangody along with 21 from Kyle McAlarney. 17-4, 7-2, and the next game will be the biggest of the season as Marquette comes to town Saturday and the Irish look to avenge their blowout loss at the Bradley Center.

Iowa lost 60-54 to Wisconsin tonight. Led by 3 at the half and just took too many bad shots in the last 10 minutes, couldn't get enough stops and they couldn't miss a free throw.

How has Ed Hightower not been assassinated yet? I hate him with a passion.

He sallies forth from an undisclosed location two times a week to ruin Big Ten games, and yet his lair completely untraceable. My guess is that he was trained by the VC to torment us all.

89-78

can't wait to cash in on all my bets with friends and teachers.

In response to your earlier question, yes, I'm a huge UNC fan. In response to this quotation, people actually bet against Duke in this game? Much as it pains me to admit it, Duke is probably a better team than UNC WITH Ty Lawson, at least until UNC starts playing some defense. Without him, I'm surprised we were only down by five with a minute and a half or so to go.

Actually, believe it or not, I'm encouraged by this game. It always sucks to lose to Duke, but it seems pretty clear to me that if Ty Lawson had been running the point rather than Quentin Thomas (who really shouldn't be running the show), we would have won. I don't know if we'll win in Cameron, but I still like our chances.
