Can I get those stats per 40 minutes? White is your first of second option. Suton is like the 3rd or 4th for Michigan State. Suton also has to battle talented big teammates for rebounds. IU doesn't have any other big talented players.

Suton is averaging 26.7 minutes, White 31.5. Suton has taken 148 field goals, White 208. So, obviously, there's a discrepancy there as you predicted. But White is also shooting substantially higher from the field .611-.507 and gets to the line much better (88/123 attempts to 35/48). Yes, White plays more and shoots more, but that could be because he's a superior player or because MSU has more depth. I'm unsure how to weight and account for those variables.

White has also been much better in the Big Ten play. He's upped his averages to 18.9 and 12.1. He leads the league in offensive and defensive rebounds and is second to Gordon in scoring. He should be Big Ten POY.

And, wow, are you right that IU doesn't have any other talented big players. Hopefully, Eli Holman can get there.

Remember that White will shoot a higher percentage too because he doesn't step out and shoot the 20 footer like Suton does.

is it bad that i've lowered my expectations of DePaul so low that just "making the Big East tourney" would be tremendously satisfying?

Is it not until next year that everyone makes the tourney. If it starts this year, then yes, I'd say the expectations are too low. I don't know how to fix DePaul. It's sad. They may have been better off playing 2nd banana in C-USA rather than go to the Big East, though I understand their reasoning.

i don't know either. jerry wainwright isn't the answer, but i don't know what is. it's simply not a job that anyone who is "up and coming" really wants, and i think the athletic department has grown a reputation of not treating their head coaches very well

They need to pick up the scraps from the state the next two years. Illinois is done recruiting in the state. That leaves a lot of talent.

did verdell what'shisname ever commit anywhere?

I don't think so. The last I heard he said he still might go to Illinois. I don't know if he plans on walking on though.

Is that McCamey any relation to the one currently playing for Illinois?

Yeah it is his younger brother. Many people think he will be better than Demetri.

I figure you will be in on the younger McCamey too, since you weer a finalist for Demetri.

I haven't heard much on that front, but I'm sure you're right.

Cal beat Washington State 69-64 IN Pullman. Stanford beat Washington in Seattle and Arizona is about to beat USC in LA.

UCLA blew away the slumping Arizona St., 84-51. Time for my College Gameday on Saturday morning with Arizona at UCLA.

Heh...it starts at 8 your time on Saturday morning. Good luck

It was hell getting up for it, but it was worth it.

Can't go - only current students with active Bruin Cards or those with tickets for the game are allowed in. :(

Raisin - I've got an active Bruin Card (yeah, I'm taking classes at UCLA now - a story for a different thread. My allegiances, however, have not changed). I doubt anyone would let you in with my card, though. Plus, it's a little late for that. I'll be up at around 7 tomorrow morning anyway if you want to try it. I'll PM you my number.

I realize that whole thing should probably have just been PMed, but now that I've written it I'm too lazy to fix it. On a basketball note, I am enormously pissed that UNC refuses to play even tolerable defense. They've got the best offense in the country, and lots of athletic guys who should be able to play defense. I'm afraid we'll lose to Duke twice this year, which would be intolerable.

So far in the early going, I've heard that SIU and Wisconsin are the frontrunners for McCamey.

Thanks. I've had experiences trying to sneak into the Den before with someone else's Bruin Card. Apparently security is and the staff are on to the fact that I'm not white or Asian like my friends who's Bruin Card I've borrowed. Shocking, I know.

Oh, and Digger is STILL a wimp! :D

Wisconsin has offers out to Taylor and Cooley. They've shown some interest in Prosser. I'd really like them to get Taylor.

As soon as I say that we get unbelievably sloppy.

You guys are playing them better than we did. I really like your energy, but I think they're getting tired. The missed FT and the botched TO that ended up in a Beasley FT really hurt you guys.

Yeah that was ugly

TILLER! AND 1! Mizzou leads 75-72!

I wish I would've gotten a ticket for this, damn.

Ugh, I can't believe they didn't call a foul there down low. 26 seconds left, K-State ball, 75-54 Mizzou...ugh...

Has that Tiller kid been getting minutes all year? I like him.

He's played in every game, averages like 17 minutes per. He's only a soph so I look forward to a backcourt of him and Keon Lawrence for the next two years.

Huge play by Matt Lawrence! Mizzou takes the possession on a tie-up. Up 1, 7 seconds left...
