we're in the middle of one vs Mich St, but we haven't been able to fulfill the back end (@MSU) for a long time. We do it next year, i believe.

 

I wouldn't mind playing Indiana or Illinois, too.

 

Indiana and Kansas had a great series in the early 90's. I miss it. I really, really wish Indiana would pick up Kansas again (or at least someone of their ilk). Stupid Jacque Vaughn.

I know. I wasnt making an excuse for Weber, I was just stating how poorly talented this team is, which is a direct reflection on Bruce. Randall and Pruitt have never fulfilled their talent. While Randalls injuries can be blamed for alot, he still hasnt really grown offensively.

Mizzou gets 28 from Matt Lawrence, and double digit points from Carroll and Hannah and they still lose by double digits to Miss. St. What a garbage team.

Purdue lost to Wofford. This loss sucks. It really sucks. But we'll probably win 20 games still. Tourney's done for though which is really sad. Just work on developing DMac, Tisdale, and Davis.

SIU opens up Valley play with a good win over Missouri State. Mullins had 19 and Bone had his second straight game of scoring 17 or more. Matt Shaw needs to wake up soon if we want to become a consistant team.

 

We face Drake on the 2nd. They've always played us tough at their place and now that they're actually a respectable team, they might beat us. Just please go on a winning streak guys.

right, but i'm not sure i'd be able to put up with the girlfriend if purdue beats the illini, heh....i'll probably still make the trip, just sucks that both teams aren't very good.

I covered a decent basketball tournament this week, one that had a lot of college coaches and recruiters (most local, but some national) in attendance.

 

It was only an 8-team tourney, but it had two seniors that have signed to major d1 schools (OSU and Arkansas) and a pair of guys who are big time recruits (one is, or at least was, rivals No. 1 center for 2009).

 

Anyway, by the third day, I was getting used to seeing some of these guys wandering around, but that night I went into the bathroom to take a leak, and who do I see? Well, Im not 100 percent sure, but I think it was Wojo (of Coach K and Duke fame).

 

I slapped the floor and tried to d him up, but he just gave me a weird look and walked out, so Im still not sure if it was him.

We beat Southern Miss 78-58 to go to 12-0, the best start in our school's history. Wooo!

 

Will you guys win 6 in the SEC? I think so, but I'm not certain.

 

We won 8 last year against better competition and with a lesser team, so I'm gonna say that it's likely.

 

Eh the few SEC previews I've read don't have your talent as any better this season, but the 12-0 start likely says otherwise. The SEC is definitely down compared to last year. 10-6 will lock you into the field, and 9-7 should have you pretty safe too. Looking like a pretty safe bet for a tourney spot right now. You'll be 13-0 entering SEC season, and it's really tough to keep a team out with 22 wins. Short of an SEC collapse, Ole Miss is a tourney team.

 

I'm not so sure that is true anymore. Syracuse had over 20 wins and were 10-6 in the BE and didn't get in. I think a lot depends on the midmajors and how much weight they get. IMO, they are getting and deserving more and more and are making it tougher for the bigger conference teams with 20W's to get in, especially those who don't play a tough non conference schedule.

You guys got screwed though. Vitale was busy blasting you at every turn for not playing any road games in the preconference. Then he would turn around and applaud Coach K for his coaching job last year. Yet they never left the state of Carolina till there conference started.

 

I think we did too and the double standard wasn't lost on me either. I think it's because Vitale is a just a tad too Duke, just a guess though.

 

I think it's strange how the "committee" puts so much weight into away games while in football they completely ignore it.

If you win 20 games that will mean you're 12-6 in the Big Ten and probably finish 3rd or at least 4th.

 

I definitely don't see you going 12-6 in the Big Ten, but if you think you'll still win 20 then the tournament isn't done.

Purdue also beat a ranked Louisville team. When your starting five most games consists of four freshman and a sophomore(although they've changed up the starting five recently), you're going to struggle at times. They have quite a bit of talent, but they are going to have their ups and downs this season.

 

The loss to Wofford was bad though, no question about that.
