nice tackle by the bears' right tackle on that td pass, by the way

you just gave up a two minute, 97 yard drive with no timeouts to Brian Griese and the Bears offense. Bitching about reffing is not allowed.

it was an easy holding call that was missed. But yeah we suck, and I really hope we don't win another game this year.

We suck too dont worry, Id rather we lose out then get 7-8 wins and miss the playoffs and get a crap pick

+1

I'd rather we lose games so we can get a decent QB with our draft pick than win a few more games and just miss the playoffs.

Yup

I'm watching the Bears post game, and Griese said that last drive his audio was out, so he was calling plays NOT Ron Turner. Wow..Turner should be out of a job soon.

Yeah, you had to think something was up when the Bears scored a TD with under 2 minutes and 97 yards to go. I guess no offensive coordinator is better than Ron Turner.

He really is the worst. From what understand Lovie had to get on his ass about getting plays to Greg Olsen and Devin Hester. It isn't like the Bears offense is devoid of talent they have some playmakers. Except at RB, and I'm ready to write Cedric Benson off as a bust, maybe we could trade him to the Packers...lol

There wasn't a hold or a tackle. Fred Miller got his arm around the defender like it was going to be a hold, but he never got a grip. And while Miller did spin him a bit, the defender never went down to the ground. If he had, there likely would have been a flag thrown.

it was definitely a hold, but the eagles deserved to lose anyway, so not a big deal

lol..just re-watched it myself...it wasn't even remotely close to a hold.

That statement could be interpreted in two completely opposite ways. :D

Griese also said: "Unfortunately, or maybe even fortunately, the audio went out."

Yeah, it's way past time to get rid of Turner.

On a Viking note, why the heck is AP only getting the ball 12 times? I didn't get to see the flow of the game but this guy has to get the rock more than that.

Fred admits that it was:

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/614154,CST-SPT-bearnt22.article

''I gave a veteran hold,'' Miller said, smiling. ''I gave a little tug, and he fell down. That's the way it goes. I looked around to make sure there were no flags and started celebrating.''

The key, Miller explained, is to act as if it's business as usual.

''Normally, if it's a hold like that right at tackle, you'll see [the flag] at your feet somewhere,'' he said. ''You can kind of check out of your peripheral vision, kind of sneaky like, look around, and if there's nothing there, start celebrating.''

Now -- I think it's important to be clear here: holding is holding when you get caught. EVERY team holds on pass plays. Bears do it, Packers, Eagles -- everyone. Just so happens Freddy got away with that one. If I went back to the tape I'll bet I could find examples where Eagles players got away with "veteran holds" too.

How do you explain this quote in the Trib:

"What were you doing when Moose caught that ball?" I asked Fred Miller.

"I was getting away with a veteran's holding penalty," Miller confessed.

Say what you will about Griese, but there is absolutely a 0% chance that Grossman could have manufactured that scoring drive w/o radio communication (or even with it)

I'd still prefer Peyton Manning. Can you work that out for me? 8-)

There's no question it was a hold. But the Eagles deserved to lose that game anyway.

actually in a perfect world, both teams could have lost that game. they're both bad.

Haha, no kidding.

What's with all the empty seats in Jacksonville tonight? They have a good team this year, and it's MNF.
