don't really have a problem with swinging there, lidge had to throw a strike. That was an easy pitch to hit and he didn't do anything with it. Most good hitters would destroy that pitch.

A player with good situational awareness would have worked the hell out of a 2-0 count, knowing Lidge was done.

 

At the same time, 2-0 count bases loaded after 42 pitches, Lidge is going to try his hardest to get one over the plate, even if it means taking some MPH off the pitch. Jones hit it hard just right to someone.

 

Unfortunately, Jones is much better at hitting than he is attempting to walk
