Uhm. Yeah, except that whole 5 pitch inning just before this one. The real problem was not using him in a non-save situation. but using him for two innings, i think.

In all seriousness, this was probably the Cubs worse game of the year. You have your shut outs, you have your blow outs, but here you have scoring opportunities in 4 straight innings, and fail to get anything out of it. If it werent such a dismal division, the Cubs wouldnt even come close to deserving 2nd place.

Don't put this loss on Demp. The offense blew chunks. They had so many opportunities... and failed... and thats why this team doesn't deserve a playoff spot.

DAMNIT, Why the F can't the Astros realize they're the Astros?

 

It's not really the problem. It's more about the fact that the Cubs suck. They had every opportunity to win this game, but of course they didn't.

So who would have you used there? I don't care if Dempster sucks in non-save situations, that's practically a save situation there and he's the best pitcher remaining in the pen.

 

Oh, and he was dynamite that first inning.
