and I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!!

Ok, I just tried to search for a post from May after getting back from wrigley and I was saying how JJ is a solid little player and many of you just need to lay off of him--I couldnt find it, but I do just want to commend JJ. He always hustles and seems to do his best and he seems like a real good teammate.

Thank you JJ for sticking with it when many were not sticking with you!

Well....if going with JJ was a gamble by Lou, then it has so far paid off.

I remember at the time none of the options seemed real good though.

Honestly, I would still rather find a CF who doesn't take until August to get going, but I'll also take every last drop of juice from JJ right now.

I get the Jones has had a good stretch here of late but he still makes poor decisions and he has awful at-bats. Just like tonight in his last AB he looked absolutely horrible. I know the pitcher was pitching well but he has many AB's where he looks terrible. I dont understand it, part of it comes from his unwillingness to step closer to the plate. He will never hit a pitch that is on the outer half of the plate. Every pitch he hits has to be inside. Now yes I did cheer tonight and I cheer when he does well but he is just not a easy player to root for.

All Iam saying is that I have a hard time rooting for him when his AB's look so bad. It really looks like he has no idea what he is doing at the plate some nights. Now you may say to look at other players but usually he sticks out to me

I don't really get statements like that, but whatever.

For me, he's a player that hard to NOT root for. From all accounts, he's a great guy off the field, arrives to the ballpark earlier than most, and you see a smile on his face during games more than any other Cub. I don't get how he's not easy to root for. He pisses me off a lot when he swings at junk two feet off the plate, but I like Jacque.

Thats a very fair statement Mizzou. Iam not saying I dont like him as a person. I just dont like his approach at the plate. I actually think he handled being terrible for the first half of the season pretty well and alot of people would have just stopped trying and gave up hope, but he kept on going.

His approach at the plate has been much better since he started taking RHP the other way.

Jones has always sucked against LHP, which is what his terrible AB was against. Lou knows that, whole world knows it. He's a known quantity in that regard so I don't consider that a reason to hate the guy.

I still don't want him on my team because that's 2 years in a row he has taken forever to start producing at the plate, and this year was worse than last.

Huh? Did you even watch tonights game? Jones slapped one to left and had good at bats. Face it, he is going to be at his best when he is playing every day. Everyone has different styles of hitting, and stepping close to the plate is not what makes you hit that outside pitch (which Jones did tonight). The guy is playing BIG right now, which happens to be about the best time he could be producing.

Give him his props.

Doesn't JJ have on and off years? Let him ride out his contract and hit righties all day long. Only thing is he will take the time away from Murton if Pie starts producing, but we have seen worse with Uncle Cliff and a platoon is better than nothing for the Rooster. Not to mention I simply can not complain if Pie becomes an average contributor on offense next year.

However, if this hitting attracts the buyers then by all means move him this summer, I'm sure we will even be able to find something better then that Marlins deal.

I'm appreciating all that Jacque has done, but I do hope we trade him this offseason and sign Fukudome.

don't count on it.

I'm not. I've learned the Cubs rarely make the same personnel decisions that I would.

yeah, he's proving the world wrong with that .718 OPS.

What about his .851 OPS since the ASB and .931 OPS in August?

And out of CF.

Granted, for the whole season he still hasn't lived up to his salary (hell, there probably isn't a single person making above the minimum on this team who has), but he's been great lately. And he hasn't been hacking at that pitch in the dirt as much, which is probably a big part of why.

His OBP is still sub-.330

So yeah, he still sucks.

.368 in July.

.378 in August.

No one is disputing he sucked before then.

I'm glad, but I'm not about to praise him.

I'm just grateful he's STARTING to make up for all the crappy games at the beginning of the year.
