Looks like my run as starter will be quite brief.

Zambrano poised to get rocked again. How many first inning runs this time?

He escapes the first inning only allowing 3 runs.

I'll miss the first half of the game because I'm covering a soccer game but when I get back, I don't think I'll even bother tuning in.

this is a [expletive] loss. Zambrano is the worst pitcher in the rotation right now and he's facing a good team. Seeing how the Cubs lose, I sometimes wonder why I bother be a fan. Cubs win dammit! We have the worst bullpen in the league.

I'd really like to believe a Zambrano miracle will occur such as scoreless first inning let alone, keeping the Cubs in game. However, the realist in me says Zambrano puts the Cubs in a 3 run hole (along with issuing 3 BB's) after the first.

Ok, I'll be the insane optimist here.

Zambrano comes out of his funk...flirts with a no-hitter through 5, ends up pitching 7 innings of shutout ball, pulled because of too many pitches, Cubs win 2-0.

DeRosa sounds a little banged up-he probably will get the day off tonight. If Lee does at well, this is probably the lineup:

Theriot

Murton or Floyd

Soriano

Ramirez

Ward

Barrett

Jones

Izturis

It could really be anything though. The main thing is that whatever left-handers are in there, Lou is going to try to split them, which helps figure out the lineup order a little bit easier.

There is really only one question about tonight's game.

Will Maine pitch a perfect game or merely a no-hitter?

Anybody know the moneyline on this game? My guess is NYM -38,000. For all you non-gamblers that means if you want to bet the Mets to win, it costs $38,000 to make a $100 profit. I think it's a good bet.

LOL! Actually the Cubs are -115 and the Mets are -105.

i assume DeRosa won't start because of his wrist. they will be working with a very short bench with out DeRosa and Lee. i can't wait to see Marquis pinch hit. yay.

Since we have a short bench I am betting on a 15 inning game tonight.
