Tomorrow, the Cubs head out to Atlanta to face the 9 - 4 Braves.

On the mound for the Cubs is:

Carlos Zambrano!

1-2, 7.88 ERA

From MLB.com:

Cubs: Zambrano is coming off a strange outing. He hit his first homer of the season as well as a double, but blew a 5-0 lead as the Reds rallied on Friday at Wrigley. Big Z gave up six runs on six hits and four walks over four innings while striking out two in an Opening Day rematch against Cincinnati's Aaron Harang. The Cubs' ace is 1-0 in two games at Turner Field, giving up one earned run over 12 innings.

He will be facing:

Kyle Davies

0-0, 2.70

Braves: Other than the back-to-back, two-out second-inning homers he surrendered, Davies was nearly perfect in his season debut against the Mets on Sunday. The 23-year-old right-hander matched a career high with eight strikeouts and issued just three walks. He has regained the confidence he lacked when he came back from right groin surgery to make six forgettable September starts last year. Since altering the placement of his hands during his windup three weeks ago, he's shown an ability to find more consistency with his location.

Hopefully Cubs can frick'n win.

Last time I saw Z pitch was April 9th, 2004. It was in Atlanta, and I don't remember if his one run allowed was over 7 innings or 8, but I remember that Hollandsworth tied it on a 2-out HR off Smoltz in the 9th, and it needed more innings than today's game did before the Cubs finally won 2-1.

Z needs to be just as effective this time around, and hopefully the offense will take a little less than 26 outs to show up.

Edit - I'm sure I've seen him pitch since then, but none of the Cubs games I've seen since then have been worth remembering, so I'm standing by this story.

Zambrano needs to step up and show that he is the ace.

I expect Hill to outpitch Z on Thursday no matter what Z does tomorrow. That's the first time I've said that about Z in three years.

Nothing too special... Hopefully Ramirez gets the nod.

Ouch.. Watch out for Renteria and Jones squared.

I expect Lou to tell Z that he's going to throw 100 pitches regardless of how many runs he gives up. Z better not waste pitches because there won't be an early exit tomorrow. He needs to step up and pitch like the ace he is supposed to be.

I'd reallly like to believe Zambrano' going to give the Cubs 8+ tonight but, realistically his pitch count will probably be into to the 80's by 4th. Zambrano cannot throw strikes. Hopefully, the Cubs produce some runs tonight, a lot of them.

Z's failings are going to be highlighted even moreso today when we really need him to be the ace he isn't.

The Trade Z BandWGN is now accepting all passengers for boarding. I know ARod is lighting things up right now, but I think Z and a reliever would look real good to the Yankees right now for him, especially with the pitching gap they have.

any chance this game is on TBS as well?

No. I was hoping for the same thing, but it looks like it's on Fox Sports Net for Atlanta fans.

I was happy seeing Smoltz pitch last night so he wont face the Cubs this series. Dont know much about this guy but id rather see him than Smoltz.
