This one hurt, in a lot of ways.

I'm on the Pie bandwagon. It's obvious he's really working on his patience. You could see it in the first at bat. Sure he ended up striking out looking, but that pitch was close and he probably wouldn't have hit it that hard. Not perfect, but it shows he's thinking about it and working on it. Good to see.

Mark Derosa is a slick fielder. I didn't know he could flash the leather like that.

It's not about 1 run it's about 5 runs.

Z was not this bad last April. This is worse than anything he's gone through previously.

You can make the argument that this April is worse than April 2006, and I guess, technically, that's correct. But I contend that both months are of the same order of magnitude of suckiness. So what if this year is a little worse.... it still sucks !!!

April 2007 IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA
Zambrano 22.0 25 19 19 16 16 6 401 6.55 6.55 2.45 1.86 7.77

April 2006 IP H R ER BB K HR PC BB/9 K/9 HR/9 WHIP ERA
Zambrano 33.7 33 23 20 25 38 6 648 6.68 10.16 1.60 1.72 5.35

I agree on Pie. I am not looking at his BA, I am looking for him to go deep into counts to show patience. It will be interesting to see how he does against a lefty today, albeit not a very good one. Does anyone know where I can find his minor league splits?

FYI, Braves.com

Willy Aybar's suspension was originally supposed to last just three days. But his continued absence has forced the Braves to make this an indefinite suspension.

Aybar, who is currently on the 15-day disabled list because of a sore right hand, has had a number of problems since being traded from the Dodgers to the Braves on July 30 of last year...

He originally earned this suspension because he didn't show up at Turner Field for treatment before the games that were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

There's a belief that Aybar is struggling with some non-baseball issues. But because he doesn't keep in close contact with any of his teammates, the club doesn't know exactly what they are dealing with.

Thanks, and lets hope Rich Hill is a beast today.

Pie has been good. He's made a STELLAR play, and has been right in the middle of 2 rallies on 2 separate days. And that's in only 2 games!!
