CBS Sportsline"] "He was hooked up to an EKG machine when we got it done," said Larry O'Brien, Lilly's agent, who added that the hospital tests had come back fine and that Hendry was OK.

According to O'Brien, Hendry was dining with manager Lou Piniella when he suddenly felt ill.

"I think Lou drove him to the hospital," O'Brien said.

It was, to say the least, a highly unusual way to finish a deal.

"I haven't done one like that, and I don't know if Jim has, either," O'Brien said. "He's fine. I think he might have had indigestion."

Good or bad, Hendry takes his job seriously.

I think you should Rethink your sig for now.

I know it's a serious situation, but anyone else stifle a laugh at the image of Lou driving him to the hospital . . . it almost seems alegoric.

I have an image of Hendry talking on his cellphone through his oxygen mask. Good to see that he's going to be okay.

This signing isn't quite enough to make him worse than Isiah, but he's inching closer and closer.

I think he means Hendry is not bad enough to be compared with Isiah. You have to show him some respect for his work ethic.

If working hard just allows him to screw things up faster, I'd rather not pretend to appreciate it.

Levine said that hendry was admitted to a local hospital overnight for observation and that it didn't seem like anything too serious like a heart attack or something. I missed the first part because I was listening to wgn and switched over to espn1000, but it sounded like someone took hendry to the hospital, he didn't collapse or anything. levine said he looked sick and said that he felt lousy and that hendry never says anything like that.

Levine also said hendry has been working around the clock and not sleeping and living off coffee so it might be a combination of exhaustion and dehydration or something like that. early word is that hendry should be released tomorrow morning and they think he'll be back in time for the rule 5 draft. I hope they don't rush it or anything.

One thing about Hendry that I like is that he seems to be hard working.

I'd like for him to work more smartly and less hard though.

I hope this is just exhaustion and not something more seriouse.

I'm just wondering if it was really exhaustion, or if we're gonna find out in a couple of weeks that Hendry really has a bad shoulder!

No disrespect to Jim Hendry, but LMAO

If is exhaustion, I can't imagine its a good thing he's still working his phone from his hospital bed.

I'm picturing the manager from Major League when he was in the hospital trying to hide from nurses that he wasn't ignoring baseball. He's probably got the phone hidden under the blanket with an earpiece attached, and when he's talking and a nurse walks by, he starts singing in an effort to pretend he's listening to his ipod.

I'll be looking for stories from confused GMs around the league starting in the next few hours.

Glad to hear that he seems to be doing ok. Scary.

Bruce Miles"] The most serious matter is Hendry's health. The 51-year-old Hendry did not appear feeling right Tuesday evening, and members of the Cubs' family mentioned that he had symptoms similar to indigestion.

Doctors apparently wanted to take no chances of Hendry having heart problems.

A spokesperson, while not divulging the exact nature of Hendry's illness, said he was not feeling well overall and that on the recommendation of team physician Stephen Adams (who is not in Orlando), "Jim went to a local hospital, and it was decided that he be admitted for additional tests and observations."

The club said Hendry's situation was not life-threatening.

O'Brien said Cubs manager Lou Piniella drove Hendry to the hospital sometime late Wednesday afternoon.

"I spoke to Jim, and he was fine," O'Brien said in the lobby of the Disney Dolphin Hotel. "He should be out in the morning. I said, 'I hope the pressure didn't do this to you because we've got postseason pressures to worry about.'æ"

Hendry had been working frantically all week to bolster the Cubs' starting pitching rotation.

Call me crazy, but I don't think he was listening to an Ipod

Are you saying that he is screwing things up this off season? Or was that just a meaningless hypothetical statement?
