They surpassed my expectations as well, they played well vs. UT, just couldn't finish it off. It was clearly their best defensive performance despite all the missed tackles.

Peach-UGA (I hate Chick-Fil-A)

Arkansas is too high I think. If they lose, they'll have three losses to Auburn's two. The Tigers will likely be the bigger draw to the casual fan and thus will go to a higher bowl. Also, if the Razorbacks lose, it wouldn't surprise me to see them drop all the way to the Cotton Bowl and UT fit into the Outback Bowl for the same reasons. Tennessee may be the bigger draw, both ratings and attendance-wise, despite the Ainge-less shellacking we took from Ark.

I think you're right.

I'm really not sure about the UT/Ark bowl situation, it could go either way. I just figure Tennessee is a more established power, thus we would get the benefit of the doubt.

If Ark does lose, I think it becomes a battle between UT and Auburn for the Capital One Bowl, I think Auburn pulls it off and UT ends up in the Outback Bowl.

One of the Members of the Outback Bowl commit. could not see a way for UT to fall past the Outback Bowl (assuming an Ark. loss).

I do know that Capital One officials were present at the UT/UK game Saturday. Not sure about this, but it would seem odd for them to be there if we weren't in the running for it.

You're right, though, it's gonna be tough with three losses for us to overtake Auburn for it. Probably depends on how that two of our losses came without Erik Ainge and we probably win the LSU game with him.

If Florida wins Saturday, I could see a Florida/ND Sugar Bowl very easily-now that would be a very interesting game.

GO UCLA!!!!!

Amen. Also, go Florida. Judging by the newly released BCS rankings, Florida *may* be able to jump over Michigan with a win over Arkansas and of course a USC loss to UCLA.

That's another reason why I don't like those playoff games. That extra game can give a team an advantage over one that just plays 12 games. Of course it can bite them too for example if Florida loses.

Yeah I don't like that either. IMO Michigan is significantly better than Florida.

Sorry CR, but your Bruins don't have one prayer in hell of beating USC----even though I would love to see it.

We'll know tomorrow if a rusty Ben Olson will be cleared to play over the crappy Pat Cowan.

Nope, they have little chance to win, given how weak the offense is. The OL will get completely manhandled, we'llbe lucky if Cowan throws more incompletions than interceptions and there are no playmakers on offense. The defense should hang in there for a while but won't be able to overcome the likely disperity in TOP and the short field from turnovers.

Oddly enough, I feel the Bruins have a better chance to win this year than last.

Heh, that's what I said about ND.

ND doesn't have the defense to hang with USC, UCLA doesn't have the offense to hang. But UCLA's offense is worse than ND's defense, gotta hope for a letdown game, a la the USC-UCLA game in 2004.

strange situation for them. two points either way to the fourth ranked team could mean the difference between a BCS game and the Lampshade Bowl.

A similar thing happened to Tennessee in 2004. We made it to the SEC championship with two losses (I still have a little hate for ND for knocking Ainge out for the year in our loss to them) and outplayed Auburn but still lost and dropped from a BCS bowl to the Cotton Bowl. We went on to demolish TAMU in the bowl.

Count me in as a UCLA fan this week. I'm also rooting for Florida (because I think ND would have a better chance against them than Arkansas), GT (so ND can at the least have the distinction of being the only team with three BCS teams on their schedule this year) and Oklahoma (just because I feel bad for all the crap that's gone on with them this year).
Posted
Oh, are they still playing college football? The Big 10 wrapped up a week ago. You're not telling me that the NCAA has a glaring disparity in school schedules, are you?
Posted
I have no problem with USC going to the BCS Championship Game if they beat UCLA. They have beat one of the top SEC, Big 12 and top independent along with being in a tough conference. Maybe the SEC teams will take the hint and schedule some tougher out of conference teams as it's possible a 1 loss Florida and a couple of years ago an undefeated Auburn didn't get to the big game. Western Carolina and Central Florida just isn't going to cut it.

Is there any way for Florida to jump Michigan?

It is possible. It would take a blowout win over Arkansas, and then it would be up to the voters. I think Florida's struggles with inferior teams in late October into November has really hurt them though. They simply don't look like the same team they were earlier in the season.

Yes. Many votes scream mercy from all the crying Urban is doing and subcum to his wishes. What is Urban going to do if they lose to Arkansas and get shut out of a BCS to a team they beat earlier this year (LSU). That will be interesting.

It's definitely possible but highly unlikely. Like CCP said they would have to blow out Arkansas and then hope the voters put them ahead of Michigan. With a blowout win they could jump Michigan in the computers but it wouldn't be by very much. Then it would be up to the voters who I don't think would put Florida ahead.

Funny how the Cotton bowl is considered an inferior bowl. When I was a kid it was one of only 4 bowls on New Years day and it was a big one. The Southwestern Conference champ would go and play an at large. I remember Joe Montanas(really Notre Dame) comeback against Houston was a Cotton Bowl
