Most pitchers use pine tar, most aren't that obvious.

I don't think they could suspend him for this series w/the current CBA.

There's a reason why that pine tar is in that specific spot and it's for his change-up as it'll rest in the pine tar and slow it down more without changing arm speeds.

His change-up was one of the things I mentioned before the game as well as hitting Weaver's 1st pitch FB. I doubt Monroe will get another one.

Baseball Tonight just showed stills of him in the DS, CS, and tonight. He had the same mysterious "dirt spot" on his hand.

How dumb can you be? It's the World Series, put it on your stinking glove or hat or something.

I just think Kenny doesn't know how to properly wipe his ass.

That doesn't work... Tavarez did that and everyone knew he was cheating.

60 - 70% of Major league pitchers use pine tar (per ESPN), Rogers wiped the substance (no ones proven it's pine tar) off after the first inning and was still unhittable, La Russa had an opportunity to challenge it with the umps and didn't and (to his credit) showed a lot of class by not whining about it afterward. This is not a big deal.

Time to move on.

Agreed. Because nothing was done by the umpires when Rogers had the substance on his hand in the 1st inning, nothing can be done now. Time to move on.

I just wonder if the Tigers were managed by anyone other than Jim Leyland if Larussa wouldn't have raised a bigger stink? If that was Dusty in the other dugout I'm sure Larussa would have been out there in a heartbeat.

Hell, he went after Maddux when everyone knows he doesn't cheat because of Dusty, I'm pretty sure he'd go after the Pope if Dusty was managing him.

I don't think someone as intense and baseball savvy as LaRussa would put friendship above winning a World Series. I just think he realized arguing would not have accomplished much (especially after Rogers hand was cleaned) and didn't want to come off as a whiner.

The fact remains, Rogers pitched 7 of 8 innings with a "clean" hand.

True.

I just remember sitting in the box seats of that Cubs/Cards series a couple of years ago where Dusty and Larussa got into it. At one point they were yelling at each other from the dugouts. I couldn't hear everything but the eff bomb did slip a couple of times.

Whenever there was a fox saturday game, theyd show a cubs/cards montage with awesome pump up music playing, and the clip of dusty and larussa yelling at each other.

Something tells me Piniella will take significantly less crap

Ah yes, the confrontation that prompted Dusty to use the infamous "wolf tickets" quote.

Your eyebrows tend to get weird after 60. My sister wouldn't let me dad be in her wedding until he went to a spa and got his eyebrows cleaned up.

That's why he wears sunglasses at night games.

I thought he was copying poker players and wore the dark glasses so opposing players couldn't read/see his eyes?

If the Cards win it all, expect Hendry to suggest that to Piniella.
