Also, Navy is 5-2 and a very good team.

Very good? Come on. Navy has beaten East Carolina (barely) UMass (a 1-AA team, by one point), Stanford (whose next win will be their first), UConn (well they're in the Big East, so they must be good) and Air Force (3-3). What in there suggests they're a very good team?

Well let's see. Air Force lost by one to Tennessee at Tennessee so you're right, Navy must be a bad team. as is Tennessee then. Since Tennessee is a bad team how are they in the top 10? I'm just using your criteria Truffle.

No, you're not. Geez, how hard is it? He named ALL of Navy's wins to show that none were particularly impressive; you named one close game for Tennessee and said they were a bad team. Ridiculous.

He's calling Navy a bad team while they beat Air Force at Air Force while Tennessee wins at home by one. Not only that but in the last seconds. What makes Tennessee so much better?

You're adding another degree of separation, and Tennessee has shown themselves to be a good team with the remainder of their schedule.

Louisvile really needs to lose, they don't deserve that seed IMO.

congrats to clemson for cracking the top 10 finally. Unfortunately since they play no one from here on out, they won't get a chance to move up and will probably fall to #13-#15 by the end of the year

It's nice to see Arkansas finally move past two-loss LSU in one poll. Wonder how long LSU will be allowed to skate on their two quality losses

dew, UGA isn't "still in" the polls. They fell out after the Vandy loss, and got back in. I'd take Georgia over should've-been-3-loss Oregon right now. I think Mizzou, A&M, and Wisconsin should all be ranked higher--certainly ahead of the two-loss teams directly in front of them. I'd also take Oregon out and put in Wake.

At least all the teams ahead of them are competitive. I'd say the SC game could be a big one, but their schedule is murder the next three games, so they may be a non-factor by that point. And If Clemson can just tread water through season's end, somebody ahead of them wil slide. Tennessee still has to play SC, Arkansas, and LSU. Auburn has Georgia and Alabama. If Clemson takes care of business, they could run up one or two spots before bowl season.

I'm actually somewhat surprised Clemson didn't also jump Florida considering their only loss was by one point, in double overtime, on the road against a Top 25 team.

No, the coaches poll had Georgia as 24 last week. I was looking at the polls during the game yesterday, and I couldn't believe they were still in the coaches poll after the 2 losses-so they actually dropped a spot after yesterday.

It's not like the teams that are just out of the polls are usually pretty good anyway this year. The first 5 teams out of the AP poll-Georgia, Tulsa, BYU, Va Tech, Miami-anybody want to put any of those 5 in the top 25?

I thought they were 25 in the coaches last week? Anyway, the more I look at it, the more I figure UGA probably is a little more deserving than Oregon, though neither should be a top 25. Just nobody that's actually deserving left.

I still think it's remarkable how they're ranked so much higher than Mizzou. Mizzou has the same claim about losing a close game on the road against a top 25 team, and a similar opponents record. Clemson is still benefitting from FSU being overrated when they played.

Posted
Because Auburn, Florida, LSU and Tennessee are all very good teams; Arkansas may be in that group, and South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama all have very good defenses and can be dangerous to any of the teams above. Even Vandy has won at Georgia and played Arkansas tough. Ole Miss has been pretty competitive too...

Can I just throw out that Georgia and Ole Miss are F***** dog**** teams and would struggle to win the MAC?

And I can't help but mention that warpticon trumped these claims by saying the Big 12 was in the running as the best conference, when it seems to clearly be in the running as the worst of the BCSers.

PAC 10

Big 10

SEC

Big East

Big 12

ACC

Ole Miss, maybe??? Georgia, that's laughable. I understand that UGA is having a bad year, but on athleticism alone they'd dominate in the MAC. SEC third best conference, pffftt!!!

Georgia is not a very good team this year. They might win the MAC but they were one of the most overrated teams in D-I this year.

Ah, missed that. And yeah, basically it's a matter of the least of many evils. there's a real clusterphysicalintimacy down there in the 20-30 range.

You could put West Virgina in there too. My guess is they will be playing for the national championship after Michigan loses to OSU and ND beats USC.

I'm sure all the ND fans will be crying about it too even though Michigan destroyed them.

Regardless, no one touches OSU this year.

What makes Louisville any different from West Virginia? The only difference between the two was that West Virginia had a ton of hype surrounding them coming into the year. Neither team has played anybody yet. You could even make the argument that with Louiville beating Miami, they've actaully had a harder schedule than West Virginia this year.

I wouldn't group WVU in with Georgia as overrated because we don't know if they're overrated. WVU had a very good team last year and returned a lot of their starters including the two key guys in Slaton and White. Georgia, on the other hand, lost a ton of players. Virtually every team will have a couple close calls over the course of the year so I'm not going to cite those. Georgia played one good half against Tennessee but got hammered in the other half and then lost to Vanderbilt at home the next week. Georgia is clearly in a down year.

Arkansas still gets no love for some reason, #14 is rediculus IMO. Why is Georgia even in the Top 25, Alabama is a better team with a 5-3 record? If Texas gave Ohio State a better game I'd be fine with them ahead of Louisville but they didn't.

They're probably also benefitting from the Big 12 sucking and the ACC sucking less. I'd say also that Mizzou doesn't have a win as impressive as Clemson's win this week on their resume.

The Sportsline 119 poll is just weird and confusing. I can't make heads or tails of it.

http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/polls/119

For example, how is Arkansas #20 when they apparently are #4 in strength of schedule?

I have no idea how they base their rankings either. Why show SOS if it doesn't count? USC should be #2 and as you said Arkansas should be a heck of a lot higher than 20. I'm curious on how they figure the SOS.

USC is going to lose to Cal and maybe ND.

If OSU loses it will be to Michigan. I certainly wouldnt put that in the win column for OSU yet.

I agree that West Virginia is going to end up in the title game. I also think it is going to be well deserved even with all the SEC crying foul.

WV still has undefeated Louisville and Rutgers left and the backyard brawl with Pitt. It isn't an easy schedule left to play by any means and that goes for Louisville too. Also, South Florida for some strange reason has Louisville's number so that may be a very tough game for them as well.

We could end up with the three undefeateds in the BE knocking each other off. That would be something.

How can anyone say WVU in the title game is well deserved?

Look at their schedule. According to CBSsportline it is 100 of 119 DI Teams. They played no one this year. The Big East is terrible this year.
