Georgia is not a very good team this year. They might win the MAC but they were one of the most overrated teams in D-I this year.

You could put West Virgina in there too. My guess is they will be playing for the national championship after Michigan loses to OSU and ND beats USC.

I'm sure all the ND fans will be crying about it too even though Michigan destroyed them.

Regardless, no one touches OSU this year.

USC is going to lose to Cal and maybe ND.

If OSU loses it will be to Michigan. I certainly wouldnt put that in the win column for OSU yet.

I agree that West Virginia is going to end up in the title game. I also think it is going to be well deserved even with all the SEC crying foul.

How can anyone say WVU in the title game is well deserved?

Look at their schedule. According to CBSsportline it is 100 of 119 DI Teams. They played no one this year. The Big East is terrible this year.

It'll get tougher, trust me. How is the Big East terrible? Compared to what, the NFL?

Isn't the SOS based only on the games they've played so far? They still have good teams to play in Rutgers and Pitt, and a top team in Louisville.

Because they will have won at Louisville, at Pitt in the Backyard Brawl and vs Rutgers. Their SOS will improve as the year goes on and won't be 100 out of 119 when the year is over.

They still have to play the top 4 teams in the Big East(aside from themselves), their SOS is going to go up.

WV still has undefeated Louisville and Rutgers left and the backyard brawl with Pitt. It isn't an easy schedule left to play by any means and that goes for Louisville too. Also, South Florida for some strange reason has Louisville's number so that may be a very tough game for them as well.

We could end up with the three undefeateds in the BE knocking each other off. That would be something.

WV is a running team and if they fall behind a team with a good offense it could be interesting. I think Louisville will pull it out because of their balance offensively and their defense but you're right, they might just knock each other out.

Which of WVU and Louisville do you think Rutgers has the best chance against?

I'm actually somewhat surprised Clemson didn't also jump Florida considering their only loss was by one point, in double overtime, on the road against a Top 25 team.

I still think it's remarkable how they're ranked so much higher than Mizzou. Mizzou has the same claim about losing a close game on the road against a top 25 team, and a similar opponents record. Clemson is still benefitting from FSU being overrated when they played.

They're probably also benefitting from the Big 12 sucking and the ACC sucking less. I'd say also that Mizzou doesn't have a win as impressive as Clemson's win this week on their resume.

Yeah, winning against GT, @Wake, and @FSU is more impressive than @Texas Tech, Ohio, and KSU/@UNM, but the gap between the rankings is the thing that gets me. Mizzou's barely in the top 25 and ranked behind several 2 loss teams while Clemson is in the top 10.

West Virginia. Rutgers RB Rice can keep the WV offense off the field and the Mountineers have been living with long rushing TD runs. White and Slaton are fast as heck but Rutgers has some nice speed on defense so they have a decent chance.

I can't believe White and Slaton are both just sophmores, 2 more years of this.

White was drafted by the Angels in the 4th round by the way.

If Rutgers beats WVU and Louisville (and runs the table), do they deserve to play for the national title if OSU is the only other remaining undefeated team?

Based on Cuse's line of thought, they would have to play for it all. I can't imagine anyone else on this board feels that way though. A Rutgers-OSU title game? Yuck.

If West Virginia is the only undefeated team to go along with the winner of Michigan and OSU than they would play for the National Title, same as Louisville. So why should Rutgers be punished because they didnt start the season ranked in the Top 25. If Arkansas didnt lose to USC and ran the table would there be any question about them being in the National Title game. Yes because them getting unranked to start with would create some question, just like why are the ranked so low now. Of course this goes to show why preseason rankings shouldnt be allowed. All of this is why college football is so great and frustrating. We can argue these types of things because there is no real closure some seasons.

Hahahaha, Rutgers in the title game would probably be one of the top-5 most hilarious things ever

Is it anymore farfetched than ND last year. If ND would have gone undefeated the circumstances wouldnt be that much different than Rutgers this year. Except that as soon as ND won a game they were in the top 25 and once they won 2 they were in the top ten. I am sure that if ND would have gone undefeated the idea of putting Georgia or PSU in the championship game would have been an outrage.

All this being said I dont think Rutgers is going to go undefeated.

The base of your point about Rutgers being similar to ND of last year if both went undefeated is a little misguided, as USC '05 is much better than WV or Louisville '06.

And if Rutgers beat teams that were ranked at the time in their first few games, of course they'd climb in the rankings. ND jumped up because they beat teams that were thought to be pretty good teams. They turned out to not be.

Let me tell you, if Rutgers becomes a power ND and Penn State can kiss their pipeline to Jersey goodbye. This school was a sleeping giant IMO and if they continue on this path it's going to hurt a lot of schools.

And this hurts to write because I hate that school.

Whether or not Greg Schiano (I think that's right) stays may have a huge impact on whether they get good. I've been hearing many rumors that he may replace Coker in Miami.

An undefeated ND would have beaten USC and plastered just about everyone else they played, while Rutgers had to rally to beat USF. Not quite the same thing. But I shan't go any further because we'll still be talking about this next week if I do.

No doubt, Schiano has that school jumping and I think it would be a mistake for him to go back to Miami. It's a hornets nest right now, let someone else deal with it.

I agree, but it's very difficult to ignore what Miami used to be. Most good coaches will believe they can turn it around.

An undefeated Rutgers team would have to beat 2 Top 10 teams. The circumstances really are not that different. Especially when you consider NDs schedule last year ended up being pretty mediocre at best. I for one would be outraged if Rutgers didnt get to go to the National Championship game if they were one of 2 undefeated teams. These are also pretty similar circumstances to Auburn in 2004 except there were 2 other undefeated teams. The reason Auburn was the team left out was because they started the season unranked.

I agree with Cuse in that I think Shiano has Rutgers going the right direction. It may be better to stay at Rutgers then to go to Miami. I still dont think they are going to go undefeated this year but I wouldnt be surprised if they upset one of WV or Louisville

I gotta say, as much as I've gotten on to the Big East, I'm thoroughly enjoying the USF/Cincy game. 2-0 at the beginning of the second half. Not too impressed by either (though I like Cincy's run game) but I am enjoying the game.

Cincy may have just blown the game open. Fumble by USF returned 45 yards for a Bearcat TD. 9-0 with 1 minute left in the third.

And the Bearcats have likely sealed the deal after a failed USF fake punt. Cincy takes the ball just over the 50 and drives down to score. 16-0 with about 12 or so minutes to go.
