That was a tough one. I think Missouri finally breaks the streak next year. We return everybody, plus a transfer who supposedly is our best player in practice comes in. Ugh. This sucks. At least we get to hopefully beat Illinois in football next year .

Don't count on either. Pruitt, Randle, Frazier, etc. Basically all but Carter and McBride are back.

Illinois Football is on the way up too.

You really think a 2-10 team is gonna beat an 8-4 team when we return like 16 starters? Remember, in college football, juniors and seniors win games NOT true freshman.

No I do not think Illinois will win. I just said the football program was on the way up.

All I said was to not count on either win because Illinois will likely be favored to win in basketball and MAY have a chance to win in football. Maybe it won't be a very good chance, but they will be, as I said, on the way up.

Oh ok sorry I misread your quote. Illinois should be better, and as TT and other posters said earlier, anytime these two teams play in anything, it's close even if one team is down. Should be a fun game.

IU beat Western Michigan tonight. Although, not a landmark victory, the Hoosiers are on the right track.

-4 straight games with 11 or fewer turnovers, after averaging about 18 thru the first 6.

They have outrebounded all but 1 of their opponents (tonight's game). They have held 1/2 the teams they've played under 60, and all under 70, an average of 59 points allowed per game.

Sampson is starting to get the boys to play together. If the players from last year's tourney team can get consistent (Ratliff, Wilmont, Calloway), and 1 more big man can at least show up every game, IU can surprise in the Big Ten. Ohio St and Wisconsin are obviously the class of the conference, but hopefully they can come together enough to be in the Illinois and MSU tier.

Holy crap Northwestern put up 77 on someone (Utah).

Coble is developing quite fast. 8-11 from the field and 5-5 from beyond the arc this morning.

Northwestern plays games on Thursday morning? Wow.

Couple nice victories for the Pac-10 yesterday: Arizona beat Memphis 79-71 and Washington beat LSU 88-72 - Hawes and Brockman look freaking unstoppable inside for U-Dub.

San Juan Shootout. And it was the 5th place game. They lost to Tennessee Tech by 1 in the opening round.

They did, though, destroy Utah by 33. I don't think anyone saw that coming. But when you set a team record for three point shooting, things must have been clicking.

ND clobbers Army 88-47 (Army scored 11 points in a row near the end of the game to make it look a little less bad for them). That team is just so darn fun to watch. I haven't seen a team I followed spread the ball around like they do in a long time. Next will be Rider a week from tonight.

Don't worry, they'll let you down once conference play starts.

They'll have to work hard to do so, as they have the easiest Big East schedule you could draw up (no Pitt, no UConn, and two games each against USF and Providence). Sort of a makeup for those years where they were forced by ESPN to play Cuse, Pitt and UConn twice a year.

That will just make it all the more agonizing for you to watch.

And, as a side note, I say this not as a Notre Dame hater because I'm indifferent to their basketball team, but since your teams have consistently let you down over the past year.

Word to that. I'll enjoy it for now until the inevitable meltdown :D

Oof, Cal center DeVon Hardin is out for 2-3 months with a broken foot, should be a crushing blow to the Golden Bears. He and Ayinde Ubaka would have been as formidable as Leon Powe and Ubaka last season.

Maybe...maybe not. The conference is not as strong at the top this year, deep, but not as strong as previous years. It would have been a good time for you guys to play us twice this year!

KSU/USC in 10 Mins. Winner to take on Wichita State or NM. GO CATS! I'd love to play WSU. It sucks not having them on the schedule this year, as we usually play them every year.

Ball State's streak of close L's continues with a 67-60 defeat to Tennessee State. Silver lining is that Skip Mills (26 points, 9 rebounds) looks to finally be back on his game.

Next is another sacrificial lamb game at IU, then conference play begins.

Ugh, Wichita State lost 71-68 to New Mexico to end their perfect record. They were playing without their best player in PJ Cousinard who, apparently, had stomach poisoning.

Unfortunate because I really wanted SIU to be the first team to take down the Shockers for their first L on the season.

Bill Walker is a stud. I want to see what kind of difference he makes vs UNM tonight. They killed us the first go round in the Pit, but something tells me tonight will be different.

I heard your defense looked excellent last night. Any word on whether Giddens will play? I heard he hurt his ankle against WSU.

I haven't heard either if Giddens is a go or not. Our defense was awesome last night. Cartier and Hoskins/Walker were our big men last night. Colon didn't see the floor, and Bennett was not with the team due to a death in the family so we played small and fast. Bill Walker freaking dominated down low in the second half. The guy is a HUGE difference maker!
